Out of curiousity, does anyone know where Dark trolls can be found in WOW? Ive seen Ice, Forest, Desert and obviusly Jungle trolls, but no sign of their dark bretheren. If no one has seen them, any speculation as to where in Azeroth they make thier home?

Oh, and were the Desert trolls part of the Amani or Gurubashi empire, or were they a smaller empire of their own like the Gun'druk (ice troll empire)?

if im not mistaken, the Amani were the forest trolls up in lorderon, and the Gurubashi the jungle trolls in Azeroth (duh) the ice and desert trolls had their own, smaller empires.

There's supposed to be a Hidden Dark Troll Village when you fly from Auberdine to Moonglade. I've seen it but there are no NPC's visable.

a lot of flightpaths have hidden areas that can only be seen from the air. waterfall in northshire, 'area 51' in dun mroough, caves, streams, and lumber mills in stonetalon, ruins between desolace and mulgor, farms in the wetlands, and that village. most of them have NPCs roaming around them for visual effects, but some bug prevents you form seeing them in the air. (you can check out some of these NPCs if you want. swim east of thandol span, then north as the coast curves. there should be an area easily accesable with dwarven farms and NPCs who will give you directions to places in Dun Morough.)

Hmm, I better explore Stranglethorn a little more then. And the Dark troll village I haven't spotted, mostly because I play Horde and thus cannot use Alliance flight paths. :P

Thaks for the info guys, I am eager to learn all I can about the Troll culture and history in Warcraft.

Is it just me, or are the trolls of Zul'farrak purple skinned? As in, the same color as Dark Trolls?

They are brown, not purple :P WoW just does a shitty job at accurately portraying this.

I agree, I could only tell they were a sandy brown in the daylight..at night they look pretty much like Jungle trolls, mostly because of the lighting. They need to have some funky hair colour that no other troll species has...like...rainbow. :P

Yes... I'm back to playing after a hiatus and all. And there's this self proclaimed lore-master on my server (Silver Hand) who plays a troll.

Zulgazarg, or Old Zul, runs a very informative show in a channel every friday night. He gets on my nerves for one thing though: He doesn't consider the Desert Trolls a race of trolls because his precious RPG books don't consider them so.

I've tried to point out how they have a blatantly different color of skin. The little we know on trolls is that their skin is a pretty decent identification as to their race. Gurubashi are blues and blue-greens. Amani are greens and even deeper greens. Frost Trolls (sorry, forgot their larger clan name) are light blues to whites. Desert Trolls range from golden browns to light purplish browns. And the dark trolls are purple to deeper purples. Yet he is adamant that the desert trolls are merely Gurubashi. He's also adamant that the books in Booty Bay (and other areas) detail how some Gurubashi Exiles found the Well of Eternity and became the Dark Tribes. I don't know, I personally beleive that the Kaldorei rose from these wayward trolls. Male Night Elves to have fangs, after all, which might just be dwarfed tusks...

So yeah, he's right-on with most his lore, so I can't fault him there, but I feel he's erroneous in this department. I don't know, maybe I'm wrong here. Any info would be grand. I tend not to agree with him as he claims he had WoW on pre-order ten years ago. He's a bit... well... far-fetched.

And that tribe in Darkshore is clearly blue skinned, if memory serves me well. Maybe Blizzard got lazy and didn't add a dark purple skin? Who knows. They sure seem festive and not the least bit threatening!

You can tell him he's full of crap. The RPG books in which Trolls are detailed in any fashion were ALL written before WoW came out (not all were released before WoW, but these books are written months in advance). The Manual of Monsters doesn't include Worgen or Crocolisks. So they don't count either? They were added later which shows you the progression of the books. The Desert Trolls were not added later because frankly they've already detailed every other Troll race. What they PROBABLY will do is include the Desert Trolls in Lands of Mystery which is the book that goes into crazy detail about Kalimdor. In fact, I would count on the fact they were saving them for that book (including them in an earlier book would be somewhat out-of-context.. just as Shadows & Light includes Twisting Nether dwelling creatures and Lands of Conflict was the one that included Worgen/Crocolisks, etc)

Whoo hoo! All hail the true WoW Lore Master! Sadly, I have told him he's full of crap on numerous occasions. He's rigidly adamant about these things. Oh well... At least I am comforted knowing he's wrong, sadly most people just follow his lore blindly.

Can't wait for that book to come out so I can potentialy shove it in his face. Heh heh heh!

Actually, I take back what I said about Lands of Mystery:
http://forums.white-wolf.com/viewtopic.php?t=26455

They are releasing a brand-spanking new Monster Manual for the WoW RPG rules which I find likely will include the Desert Trolls. Though they might still show up in Lands of Mystery which will be out first (December I think). I don't know what they'll do now. Expect them in some book :P

So now they are re-releasing updated versions of the RPG books?! Perhaps it is a good thing I don't have any yet, so I can save some cash and get the updated ones.

Ok Jov, I got something for ya. Ask him why the Silithid are not in any of the RPG books. Do they not exist as well?

You know what's really sad about that, people actually ask that question post lvl-50. When I tell them to look in Tanaris, they usually come back spouting "OMFG BLIZZ ADDED ZERG! WOOT!!!"
