For me its Stilllife, the game itself isn't very bright but I am dying for another sequal just to see what well happens next.
So whats your best game story ever?

It's not very unexpected but I'd have to say WarCraft 3. Or Kingdom Hearts 2...

I dunno really.

I might change my mind after thinking about this more, but for now I'll go with Chrono Trigger/Cross. That storyline is one of the most intellectually stimulating and thought-provoking I've come across, and even now it still provides me with food for thought.

7. Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars.

Hell yeah. The Paper Mario "follow-ups" are well done too, but few things quite match up to a classic gaming character joining forces with his mainstay arch-nemesis of past games against an evil so powerful it kicked said villain out of his own fortress during the opening sequence and proceeded to consistently mop the floor with the old villain's armies. Really helped it to live up to the "RPG" tag by making it feel about as epic as one could make a Mario game be.

Still waiting for it to happen again for real in another game, since the "Paper" titles only let players control Bowser as a sort of nigh-invulnerable, between-chapter gag rather than as a real, playable character

That's because it was made by Squaresoft, the guys behind Final Fantasy. But yeah it was one of the BEST games ever to me. I wish they would remake it somehow.

I have to add FF7 and 6 to my list, and I also like the final outcome in 8, how Squall creates the SEED just after fulfilling their purpose.

The Legend of Zelda series

Diablo series

Warcraft series

Starcraft series

Legacy of Kain series

God of War series (Not that good but it messes around with Greek mithology in a way that i simply loved)

I don´t think Final Fantasy 7 was that good.

Final Fantast XII, X, VII and VIII.
Kingdom Hearts 2.
Legend of Zelda, maybe not that complicated, but it has a nice feeling to it.

Animal Crossing. It is so cute it deserves to be on the list, whatever the list is about.

Yea Legacy of Kain was a great saga, it had only 2 huge plot holes

1How did Vorador got revived

2How did Kain survived without the hearth?

But apart from that everything ties in perfectly

And Silent hill is damn confusing

Vorador got revived many times, In which timeline do you mean exactly?
In blood omen 2 kain states that he bought him back from the dead.
2) Thats because kain was the sicion of balance, he only needed the heart of darkness to get ressurected by mortanious.

Aye, when all the Guardians of Balance were summoned, this ment Kain too.

Though what gets me is the Moebius appearing AFTER Kain kills him in the past. Which the developers admitting was a mistake on their part. They just said think of it as time travel, he WAS the Timestreamer after all.

Not in any order

Metal Gear Solid 1
Final Fantasy 7
Final Fantasy 6
Final Fantasy 4 (yeah, Kain made me think of Illidan actually :) )
Warcraft series
Grim Fandango
Legend of Zelda series (especially Adventure of Link)
Metroid Prime ( you actually have to learn the story by yourself)
Chrono Trigger ( i guess, even if I didn't find it that good I have to say it had that epic feel about it)
Super Mario RPG

That reminds me of a line in the original TMNT cartoon theme music:
