Have you ever noticed that there is no other Death Knight than Arthas, no other Demon Hunter than Illidan, no other Priestress of the Moon than Tyrande, and no other of the expansion hero classes than Cael, Maiev, Anub'Arak and Rokhan in the any of the WC3 campaigns?
I mean not just named ones, but The Scourge, for example, never has a Death Knight as a hero, except for Arthas.
Maybe I'm just thinking too much.
Well Arthas was the 1st death knight of the Scourge, and later on became mograine and others.
And we don't know how many blood mages there were since they were a hero class and Kael'thas was the hero to be played. :P
And lets not forget our keeper of the grove malfurion!!!!!

WCIII RoC went to great lengths to make sure that atleast one of the heroes of each race was represtented with a lore character.
Human:
Arthas (Paladin), Muradin (Mountain King), Jaina (Archmage)
Orc:
Thrall (Far Seer), Grom (Blademaster), Cairne (Tauren Chieftan)
Scourge:
Arthas (DK), Kel'Thuzad (Lich), Mal'Ganis (Dreadlord)
Night Elves:
Mal'Furion (KotG), Illidan (DH), Tyrande (PotM).
Now of course there were others. There was Uther, and several other paladins in the Scourge campaign that protected Terenas' ashes, there was Antonidas the the other archmages protecting Dalaran, there was Ras Frostwhisper and all the other Nathrezim (Tichondrius, Balnazzar, Detheroc, etc.), and there was Cenarius. However, the rarer ones were just taken by one character, like death knight, far seer and demon hunter.

Some of the non controllable heroes in the campaigns are custom named too.
Don't mix them with the mele heroes appearing only for gameplay.
What's true it's that there's only one named expansion hero. There are only one Blood mage, one Warden, one Cryptlord and one Shadow Hunter.

Well, Arthas was the first Death Knight right?

For that we must look the game files.
If they haven't got they names edited, they're nothing. Just random. If they got edited, then they are real characters.

Everyone here except for Aldrius has misunderstood me. About Death Knights, I stand corrected.
What I'm trying to say is that the computer enemies never have certain hero classes.
I guess Blizzard was more excited about 2 new whole armies + the whole hero classes for the playable armies.

Yes they have.
Maghteridon, Tichondrius, Mal'Ganis, Uther, Baelgun, Jubei'thos...

Have I ever mentioned Pit Lords, Dread Lords, Paladins, Mountain Kings or Blade Masters?
No I haven't. Shut up and read the thread.

certain hero classes
Death knights. Ok.
There were 2-3 custom named. Just give me time to search them in the files.

I haven't spoken of custom heroes either.
Sometimes enemies have heroes with random names. As an example, in the "survive for 30 minutes" mission of the RoC human campaign, both scourge bases have a random lich.
I've never spotted an enemy having any Demon Hunters, Priestessess of the Moon or Tauren Chieftains.

Ah, ok!
I was misunderstanding you... xD
Well, that way, you're right. No Blood mage, no crypt lord, no Beastmaster, no Warden, no Shadow Hunter, no Tauren Chieftain, no Demon Hunter...
None of them in non-custom/mele versions appear in campaigns.

His name is Calis Wraithson. I should know, considering I developed a bit of a fictional rivalry with him through my Warcraft III parody and the sheer number of times I encountered him in the campaigns and game. I think Blizzard at some point went back and randomized the non-custom heroes that appeared in the campaigns, though, so the archmages you fought the first time you played "Reign of Chaos" might not be the same ones you encounter in a replay for example. It was amusing to repeatedly run into Kelen the Seeker through three campaigns though.

That's what I mean when I say custom.
A random hero has a lot of names, and displays one of them in the campaign. You can't be sure if it's a real name.
Otherwise, some heroes are customized with the object editor to make them have only one name.
