View Full Version : Status of Half-Elves?

Really... What's going on with the half-elves in the current lore? Blizz pretty much ignores them in games (probably due to low numbers). The only times they're mentioned are in novels or RPG books. So, what can we gauge on what they're up to? Are they getting organized (I think I heard something of this somewhere)?
In another post, someone mentioned that the half-elves are going with the Alliance now, instead of following their blood elven brethren. I thought they weren't well accepted by the Alliance... It seems a bit confusing. Since the blood elves are with the Horde and the few remaining high elves are with the Alliance, couldn't a half-elf pretty much just change his clothes and walk into any settlement, Alliance or Horde?
[edit] Oops, wrong forum. Oh well.

Well, the fact that the half elves are in the Alliance is not new.
In the Alliance and Horde Compendium book (I think), the Half-elves were an Alliance race, even if they are shunned by both the Humans and the High-Elves.
I believe their entry in the Alliance player guide will be a copy and paste of the one in A&HC...

doesn't it depend on what the other half is?

Human, of course.

I hate to bump up an old topic (especially one of my own), but could I get help on a few things? I don't have any of the RPG books. :/
(I've no car and no job to get 'em soon, either. It's a curse and a blessing =p)
1) Do they have the same addiction to magic as high/blood elves?
2) Do they have the "doom of men or doom of elves" thing like in some other fantasy settings?
3) What's this I hear about half-elves starting to adapt an almost pandaren-esque outlook on the other races?
4) ...Are there any other odd quarks about them?
The reason I ask is because I'm considering signing up at an RP forum to help my WoW 'withdrawls' and Warcraft half-elves interest me. =p

They aren't addicted to magic. I don't know what a "doom of elves or men" thing is, please explain.

He means doomed to destroy them selves I think. And have a vast hatred for each other and cant get along. Look it took a fringing dead guardian to unit them and the first to jump to the cause was none other then the ORCs. Out of the Races in WOW Humans and Elves always fight with each other and extremely racist towards each other and there kin. Careless with magic and don’t think about the consciences before they use it, Especially High Elves.

That's the whole point of the Guardian, to be the maid/butler for all your whild parties by getting rid of the uninvited guests.

Actually, the humans and high elves get along pretty well now that the high elves are on Azerothian Welfare.

I ment blood elves. High elves are a dead race... As a race in terms Humans Vs Humans same with elves. Both Humans and Elves as a whole are bent with hatred of there own kin. Hence self desctruction. Much like present day....Why cant we all just get along hehehe

Ahh, no. What I meant is that in some fantasy settings (the old DragonQuest (http://www.dragonquestfrontiers.com) P&P RPG for one), half-elf characters have to decide whether they want to have a long elven lifespan or a short human lifespan.
I'm assuming they just have a normal lifespan in WC.

Well I think the Elven features are the more dominent so they'll have an Elves lifespan. Now that I think about it Rhonin and Veressa's children will be powerful magic-users.
