RPG Vault has the story on an upcoming World of WarCraft holiday, the Lunar Festival.
According to the article, the holiday commemorates the demi-god Omen who fell during the War of the Ancients to the Burning Legion. His demonic wounds plunged him into a deep sleep that corrupted his mind. He eventually awoke and went on a rampage. Heroes of the era chased him to Nighthaven where they called upon Elune to banish him beneath the waters of Lake Elune'ara. The Lunar Festival commemorates this event, though Omen still remains at the bottom of the lake (as he is immortal) and stirrs every year during the festival.
You can check the article for some pictures of both the festival and Omen himself (a two-headed giant dog). No word on when this holiday will actually take place but that model was added to the game with the 1.9 patch so perhaps it will be soon (within the next few months). Thanks to Ablamar for spotting this.
