Ok I'm reading the The Trilogy of the First War with the Burning Legion. You know with Krasus, Rhonin, Brok. For some reason it just hit me as Malfurion kills Hakkar the Fel-beast master, who always is making some hissing noise, that he might be related to the Hakkar of our time. I don't know but I'm asking if this is true? If not I was also wondering if this timeline is the one that we are under or an alternate one that they went through, and hence has no historical significance to us?

Hakkar the Houndmaster and Hakkar the Soulflayer are completely different characters.
From an interview:
Interviewer: Is Hakkar the Soulflayer and Hakkar the Houndmaster one and the same, or different entities?
Knaak: Hakkar first existed in WELL OF ETERNITY, as Hakkar the Houndmaster, my creation. Blizzard must have liked the name, because they accidentally took the name afterward for the troll god. Chris Metzen apologized for the mix-up at the L.A. Festival of Books.

Does that mean there is no relation, or that Chris Metzen too the character and had Hakkar change rolls overtime? From the way I see it, Hakkar the Houndmaster never showed up in the WC3 so I have a feeling that the timeline that we exist on now is the one that was altered. As demons die and sometimes Segaras just brings them back I feel that maybe Hakkar had a change in job application processed and now is the Soulflayer. This would explain the hissing from Hakkar the Houndmaster alittle. Might be the reason that Blizzard made him a snake, but I'm just trying to fill in blanks that may not even be there.

No, it's just a random name, don't try to theorize about it. There is no connection between the two Hakkars beyond a tendency to hiss. Even that is likely random, so please, please....please, don't attempt to make something of nothing.
If I sound slightly whiny, it's because attempting to dispell that notion took about 2 months on the WoW forums. I really don't want to have it start up again.

Oh sorry to worry you. I'm just wondering, I don't believe anything I make up in my mind. I guess I was just ranting about the possbility.

Metzen gave the Snake the name without realizing Richard Knaak gave the name to his Demon. He liked the name so much, he used it without thinking. Hey Metzen is only human himself you know hehe.

I think the Temple was out before 1.3 (if not already in-game.)
The thing to remember is that books take time to publish and revise, so even if WoW was out before the book hit store shelves, the name Hakkar was likely already placed into it.

Well I reread All the patch notes, and nothing about the ST being added. Also the Start guide lists ST loot so it must have been back in beta too.

It was back in beta. Sunken Temple was one of the first dungeons mentioned actually, the green dragonspawn creep was on the beta site for a loooong time.

Hell the only non-60 instance added was Maraudon, and that was back in 1.2 for christ's sake.
