View Full Version : Holidays You'd like to See In-Game

These are my picks:

Hordefall: Alliance only holiday. This celebrates the fall of the Horde at the end of the Second War. This is a real holiday so it really should be represented. This would take place sometime during the Summer for probably about a week (let's face it, summer needs more holidays.. plus, if you go by WarCraft 2 tilesets the war does seem to end around summer time.. it starts in the Winter fyi).

Key features:
-Special celebrations in Stormwind, Southshore, Kul Tiras (assuming it's ever added), and Ironforge.
-Booze, booze, and more booze.
-Gather Orc dolls and burn them (for a quest or something).
-Speak to veterans to hear stories of the war. There can be quests associated with this. And give the two NPCs that walk around Old Town in Stormwind quest content!
-Quests that send you to important historical locations: Hillsbrad, Alterac, Grim Batol, Burning Steppes/Blackrock Spire, Blasted Lands.
-Speak to the spirits of legendary Second War heroes like Anduin Lothar!
-Other normal holiday crap like clothes (authentic replicas of say, Footmen garb, Elven Archer garb, Mage garb, etc?), food, non-combat pets (? maybe), etc.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Liberation Day: (name tentitive) Horde only - a counter holiday to Hordefall (obviously the Horde does not want to celebrate its own defeat). Takes place sometime in the spring (April/Mayish) celebrating Thrall's liberation of the Horde from the internment camps and uniting them. As a means of balance (Hordefall is really a Dwarven holiday too), Tauren can celebrate their liberation from the Centaur or something. It would be more about the total formation of the New Horde I guess.

Key Features:
-Special celebrations in Orgrimmar, Thunderbluff, Tarren Mill (it's close to Durnholde), Hammerfall, "etc" (I don't really know where else).
-Additional booze
-Speak with Thrall to hear his story (aka Lord of the Clans plot).
-Speak with veterans of the Second War to hear about the legion's corruption and their redemption, etc (i.e. Eitrigg)
-Visit Durnholde, Alterac Valley (maybe), Hammerfall, etc. for a quest
-Speak with the spirits of legendary Orcish heroes like Orgrim Doomhammer and Grom Hellscream!
-Other holiday stuff like cloths (class horde gear), etc etc

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Nordrassil Day (or some less stupid name): Equivalent of Arbor Day, celebrated by the Night Elves and Tauren. Celebration of Ysera and the Earthmother and Nature in general.

Key Features:
-Plant a tree! (quest stuff)
-Foresty-looking clothes
-Do some quest stuff to recieve "Blessing of Ysera"/"Blessing of the Earthmother" buff (+nature damage, heal on hit, or something along those lines)
-Nature/Healing related Trinket
-Mini Treant or Ancient Protector non-combat pet!
-Raise Cenarion Circle rep?

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Dalaran Memorial (again, better name please :P): Day of mourning remebering the fall of Dalaran. The few high elves left gather in Stormwind to mourn those that fell during the Third War. Also recognized by the Blood Elves (let's face it, before any of this shit is added the expansion will be out) in Silvermoon. I have no key features for this so make up your own :P This was mentioned in Lands of Conflict, though I made up the name.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Demon's End: (I actually kind of like this name) Celebration (both factions) of the Battle of Mt. Hyjal and the fall of Archimonde. Third War veterans are honored and celebrated. Mentioned in Lands of Conflict, though I made up the name.

Key Features:
-Visit Jaina, Thrall, Tyrande, and Cairne for special quests
-Speak with veterans of the Third War
-Honor those that fell to the Legion
-Celebrations in all major cities + Theramore --- perhaps Theramore & Dustwallow becomes Horde-friendly for a week? Otherwise.. umm.. XR?
-Some special event for raids visiting Hyjal
-Summon Malfurion from the Emerald Dream for a special buff

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Anvil Stormglaive Day: Birthday of the Dwarven hero. Dwarf holiday with free drinks and perhaps other stuff. Alliance only obviously. This is briefly described in Land of Conflict so Blizzard would have to make up better details. Either way, it would be a one-day thing.

That's all I got right now. Feel free to post your own ideas :P

So you´re saying that Blizzard would actually put some Lore holidays in their game? Not this Valentine´s day crap?

LIES!

Seriously, those holidays would be kick ass, at least to had some variety. Why would 2 enemy factions celebrate all the same holidays?

No, these holidays are too complex for the noobs of WoW to enjoy. They will no doubt claim the Alliance racist for celebrating the Horde's defeat. Better to keep giving them gay holidays where they can fit in....

Seriously, cool ideas.

Aye, these Holidays would be incredibly bad ass. But inorder for people to appreciate them, they'd have to learn some Lore about WoW and most people hate learning. :glare:

Thought of another one last night that would be freaking awesome. This one is not so much a holiday as a recurring event like Elemental Invasion (but not lame like that):

Pirates Attack!: Yaarrrr... about once a month (or some interval like that), a pirate ship appears outside either Booty Bay or Ratchet (it could switch off ala Darkmoon Faire). The pirate ship will fire cannon balls at the city, so keep your eyes to the sky if you don't want to be cannon fodder.

There will be a warship docked at the port, a *new* model like maybe an Elven Destroyer (not sunken), or Troll Destroyer or something like that. Bring a group of 5-10 for an instance pirate ship adventure! Zone in to the Battleship instance, and you have X minutes before the ship sets sail (or maybe it could be triggered - i.e. talk to an NPC, just in case part of your party is slow).

Once the ship takes off, it rides up parallel to the pirate ship. And then the fun begins:

Round 1: Man the cannons! This fight will work just like the Cannonmaster Wiley fight in Stratholme (live). There are ~3 catapults and several stacks of cannon balls. Load the cannons as fast as you can and fire at the pirate ship. The goal here is to do more damage to the pirate ship than they do to you, avoiding getting your ship sunken (aka death). Firing fast enough will cause the pirate ship to lag in its attack as effort has to be redirected to repairs. My idea was that the reverse could be true for your ship. One idea I had was that the bottom decks of the ship will have crewmen frantically repairing holes in the ship. You can aide them to speed up repairs. You can also grab a bucket and toss water out the holes :D But if the hold fills up too far with water your ship will sink.

Round 2: Prepare to be boarded! This would be the coolest round as pirates begin to swing on ropes over to your ship, walk a plank and soforth. It would be a bunch of aerobatic cool pirate stuff like in the movies. The basic goal of this round is to just kill off the pirates as they board your ship. There could be other cool things like pirates trying to sabotage your ship and stuff, but otherwise pretty straitforward other than the cool aerobatics.

Round 3: Showdown with the Pirate Captain! This would be a full-on boss battle with some cool tricks. The Pirate Captain will yell different things with results depending on his yell. One example could be teleporting a random party member to "the plank" and pushing him over :D Another could be summoning his parrot to fly in from above and do some damage (maybe some debuffs). Etc.

After the battle is over you can loot the Pirate's Treasure which will have all kinds of phat lewts in it. There could also be quests related to this event.

In terms of dying, I'm not sure how to handle that. One idea is to just make it similar to battlegrounds, where you show up somewhere in your boat and a spirit healer rezzes you every X minutes. Another idea would be that the pirates "capture" you and you get thrown in their brig. Not sure how this would work though it is a cooler idea. I guess your buddies could rescue you, or there could be an escape route? I don't know.

Anyways, this would be a fucking badass event and I wish they'd add it :D

Cool Idead, but all the Casuals would whine how the hardcorre's get theirs done first and get the phat lewts, which will degrade into another zillion topics of casuals vs hardcore again.

It's a 5-10 man instance. Casual friendly. It's like the 10 man version of Onyxia :)

Ok that makes more sense. Though the phrase "If someone can complain they will complain" comes to mind.
