The State Administration of Industry & Commerce (SAIC) has rejected an application by Blizzard Entertainment to use the name of its XBOX-supportive video action game "StarCraft: Ghost" as an e-sports brand, claiming the ghostly name "promotes feudal superstitions," reports chinacourt.org. Blizzard Entertainment, a division of Vivendi Games and Activision merger Activision Blizzard, appealed to the Beijing First Intermediate People's Court to reverse SAIC's decision, but the court decided on Friday not to hear the case, said the report.
I'd have here some witty or funny comment, but after several thoughts I came to the conclusion it would be lame, so I just ask:
What the heck?!

They're still making it?
Wait. Maybe they're revitalizing it as a downloadable game?

They never really canceled it.

Yeah, they only froze it.
Hm... this China guys are weird. They told something about a StarCraft MMO.
1-They believe they're godlike and nobody gives them orders and don't care about Blizzard policies.
2-They're just lying stuff.
Anyway, they're mad, assume it. After the pandas and bones being dangerous, this was expected.
Next issue: Starcraft has the name star, which can be related to a ninja-star, which is a weapon that kills peoplez.

This is a recurring theme with Chinese bureaucracy. They (to a western point of view) are paranoid about anything that might rile up the rural peasantry (where animism and ancestor worship (and thus ghosts) still holds quite a large sway), because that's what keep's them in power, not annoying/pissing off the rural masses (which is where revolutions typically start that topple Chinese dynasties).

Yeah, but... do the people who believe in animism and stuff have the cash and sophistication to play video games?

Blizzard will probably just rename the Chinese version, like when Biohazard became Resident Evil.

Wow, if anything good comes out of this is a semi-confirmation that the game isn't dead.

Once again, Chinese communism prevails.. how much shit have they censored in that country now? I don't even think they are allowed to show Skeletons in WoW - when you die you turn into a little grave stone.. haha..

No, but that's irrelevant to them. It's a possibility, and therefore it's verboten.

That also happens in Worms.

And Blizzard had problems with them after giving a Pandaren Samurai outfit.
C'mon, it's just a fucking game. It doesn't matter what outfit do you give 'em.
It's just lame, and even the players agree with us. It's just the dumb politicians.
Uh, and I don't need to explain the reasons of the expansions arriving months later, do I?

They just need to do the same as Wizards of the coast. Recently they finaly got enough balls to show skelletons on chinese magic cards and nobody really cares.
And btw. china has banned porn. I think most chinese people aren't really happy about that^^

They're banning porn? Sick bastards! Next thing you know sexual intercourse is banned and new Chinese people are "spawned" using cloning technology.
