View Full Version : Placeholders

Rebirth

Im compiling a list of placeholder currently in game. I haven't been to the endgame yet, so I don't know the extent of them, but this is what I have so far:

ZG armor sets
D2 armor sets
Various weapons- mageblade, brutality blade
Various Shields- malistars defender
Druid forms (Dire bear, travel form, Tauren cat)
Racial Leaders (Rexxar too)
PvP HW/FM plate armor

If any of you have an item to add, please post it below. And as for the questionable ones on my list, such as the ZG and D2 armor sets, those are placeholders in the popular belief sense.

I'm not sure what you mean by Placeholder...unless you mean placeholder graphic, in which case I have to point out ageblade isn't a placeholder. I currently have it on my mage and I think it looks good and there is no other blade that looks the same atm, so I don't know how it could be a placeholder graphic.

Unless you're not talking about graphics.

and the town leaders dont have placeholder graphics. though i think they should be able to sit in the thrones right behind them!

You're making the base assumption that these are actually placeholders. Do you have any proof or is it just a case of "I think these should be changed".

While I doubt that the anything prior to BWL (ZG, MC, Onyxia, or any of the normal 5-10 man dungeons) will get any graphical changes, including the D2 sets, I have been wrong before, so I'll admit that... but that's my feeling.

And don't go holding your breath for druid forms or racial leaders... if they haven't done them yet, I doubt they will...

The ZG and D2 sets are my assumptions. If you think about it, all of hte other newere instances have armor with nice graphics that fit the instance (AQ atleast, and Naxx I assume will have some) while the ZG sets are jsut recolored older models (the warrior set is just a recolored deathbone)

The other itmes are from Onyxia I believe, and as most of that dungeon's items have been updated graphically.

I doubt Brutality Blade and Mageblade are placeholders. Blizzard is allowed to reuse art. And the art for those two fits the weapons well, even it is used elsewhere.

I do think the AQ sets are semi-placeholders though. Mainly by the fact that most artwork is shared between two class sets (with different colors). I suspect eventually one will stay, and the other will be replaced so all class sets look unique.

Then what are your thoughts on the D2 and ZG sets?

I haven't played WoW for a long time. Do the Truefaith Vestments still look exactly like the Runecloth Robe?

I suspect that when the Expansion comes Sylvanas will get a modified Blood Elf model.

The only model they need to change, IMHO, is the one for malfurion. he appears in the ST for a chain quest and calls out to you. I dont remember the specfiics. ALSO, I hope to hell they dont use a standard NE model with some stupif armor for Illidan.

Why not? The horns could be done with a helm, the tattoos AND wings could probably be done with chest armor, the hooves with foot/leg armor, etc. Well, maybe the hooves wouldn't work out too well, but who knows.

In the model viewer there is a 'demon hunter's model, which is the Metamorphosis form of a demon hunter. Just saying; Illidan will probably have a stage 2 or something :P He metamorphs after half his life is down... or something. Or else, thats just never gonna be a used model. Time will tell.

Think so too.

So far the only unique model we have is Rexxar.

I always thought his was just an orc model with a different skin.

All faction leaders should have unique models.

that was one of blizzards original promises, but it was lost amongst the raids, lol.

and rexxar isnt exactly unique. hes an orc with a skin tone difference and a mask.

but in all reality, what about the reused armor sets?

why do leaders need to have unique graphics? that one doesent make a hell of a lot of sense to me.

The same reason they needed them in Warcraft 3.

Thrall is unique.

He is bigger than normal orcs, and his eye color is blue, instead of the red color players with that face have. His armor is just a recolored.

they all should...

but, to derail my own topic, who are the Kok'ron? is there any lore behind them? (the orcs im talking about are in Thrall's chambers)

and to bring it back on, ldo you guys think that the ZG and D2 sets are currently placeholders?
