View Full Version : The Gyrocopter and the Steam Tank

Okay, RoC had the Gyrocopter and the Steam Tank units but in TFT they were replaced by the Flying Machine and the Siege Engine units. I just noticed that WoWWiki, under "Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos (Third War) units" to boot, removed Steam Tank and replaced it with Siege Engine. Gyrocopter is still there, but I am not sure how long it will last. Since they don't have a Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne (Third War) units" section, shouldn't Steam Tank be represented still? It is not like it never existed.

Sure, but this isn't really the place to take up issues with wowwiki.

Well, I was thinking just in case someone on here who also edits there would see this.

The names were changed for tFT because they were trademarks of Games Workshop, IIRC.
Not that I think that's what you asked.

That is interesting info nevertheless.

They reverted the edit, so don't worry.
Anyway, I believe both of them should be included, just because there's people still playing with RoC around.

Oh okay. Ya, plus the fact that the template is called Reign of Chaos.

Dont forget that dwarven technology made leaps from RoC to TfT thus the changes we see, the gyros became upgraded with flak cannons and the Siege Engines had anti air batteries
So um yea

And the kaldorei Ballista became the Glaive Thrower and the orc Catapult the Demolisher.
You can still see some orignal Steam Tanks etc in-game. Aswell as ballistas etc.

That looks like a technicality. Why don't you take that up with them?

All of the vehicles were changed. I wonder why that is. Tech advancement? If it was due to copyright, RoC would have probably been patched to change it, not just an update in TFT.

Yeah, I guess that the lore reason is that the technology advanced. In WoW, the the new Siege Engines dont look like the ones in Warcraft 3: TFT.
Also this is how the Steam Tanks in the WoW beta looked like: http://www.mercwear.com/blog_root/images/wowbeta/photos/photo_202.html
off-topic but lol

Oh, two more units that were transformed. I wonder if it was for the same reason as the previous two.

Ah...we have agreed to disagree on some facts you could say. I like them, they don't. Some people on here know what I am talking about.

And don't forget sorceresses and priests! Am I the only one that noticed them changing?

The high elf priest and the high elf sorceress changed into something else?

Their skins were changed to better reflect the change from haughty High Elves to broody Blood Elves.

Yeah, high elves were changed to reflect their new blood elf nature.
List of what changed:
Human:
-Gyrocopter / Flying Machine
-Steam Tank / Siege Engine
-Priest
-Sorceress
-Dragonhawk Rider (although unplayable in its high elf version)
-High Elf Peasant / Blood Elf Peasant (although unplayable in its high elf version)
Orc:
-Catapult / Demolisher
Undead:
-Nothing
Night Elf:
-Ballista / Glaive Thrower
Some other units were changed, but the changes are just updates, like the troll headhunter, whose TFT model upgrades to the berserker.

I fucking love lists
You don't know how much.
Don't believe me? See my WoWWiki projects:
(NOTE: They have GNU, so don't freaking copy them. I made them at user page because some admins didn't like my style, so I went independence. After all, there's Basque blood on my veins xDDD)
http://www.wowwiki.com/User:Lon-ami#Personal_book_research
http://www.wowwiki.com/User:Lon-ami#Personal_character_research
And more:
http://es.bleach.wikia.com/wiki/Usuario:Lon-ami/Personajes (entire Bleach character list)
http://es.wow.wikia.com/wiki/WarcraftWiki:Organización_de_Lon-ami (Warcraft stuff in general)
So yeah, call me the overlord of knowledge, unworthy acolyte! xDDD.
Also, I love categorizing, too. I categorized nearly all the novel/manga/comic characters: http://www.wowwiki.com/Category:Characters_by_appearances (1 or 2 were probably categorized by a random, but I created all the categories!)
And I created all these templates:
http://www.wowwiki.com/Template:Ogres
http://www.wowwiki.com/Template:Naga
http://www.wowwiki.com/Template:Harpies
http://www.wowwiki.com/Template:Kobolds
http://www.wowwiki.com/Template:Quilboars
http://www.wowwiki.com/Template:Gnolls
http://www.wowwiki.com/Template:Troggs
And in the case of harpies, kobolds, magnataur and troggs, I created all their group pages. In the others, I just cleaned them and remade them completely (I need to finish some, ogres and naga mainly, but whatever).
I also created:
http://www.wowwiki.com/Novels
http://www.wowwiki.com/Manga
http://www.wowwiki.com/Comics
http://www.wowwiki.com/Category:Novels
http://www.wowwiki.com/Category:Manga
http://www.wowwiki.com/Category:Comics
And I created too:
http://www.wowwiki.com/Template:Legends and all the article pages for each story at each volume.

Sometimes you have to go independent. :D

Ask Baggins and his "I don't like this, I prefer this shitty other way".
And then you go compare:
http://www.wowwiki.com/Day_of_the_Dragon#Characters
and
http://www.wowwiki.com/User:Lon-ami/Day_of_the_Dragon#Characters
And yeah, he reverted my edit, which was exactly like the second link, to leave his "correct" version. Duh.
In one word: **** him. Independence is great sometimes, and more when you don't want douchebags ruining your work.

I don't think Baggins is editing there anymore.

Yeah, I know, but anyway WoWWiki has taken another direction on character lists.
I just prefer my faction-wise classification rather than their classification depending on how important the characters are.

There are some Basque myth creatures (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Basque_mythology) you can check out if you have not already.
