View Full Version : Major changes for Minor Races in Cataclysm?

the minor races (i.e. non-Player species guys that can be killed) have never had it easy, but with the catacylsm coming it looks like there habitats are in for changes.

with the Barrens Split in half and apparently under Stormwind/Theramore control what will become of the Quillboar, considering they are still reeling from the loss of their entire Preist caste and their Capital to the scourge.

the Centaur seem to be looking at good times since the Desolace is about to become.... not so desolate, maybe the Pariah and Zaetar can do some good, for once other than words and crafting strange amulets.

northrend probably won't be changed.

if certain nightmares had by king Magni are true, the Dark Iron dwarves are facing no small amount of turbulence.

anything else?

Man, I would love for them to do something with the Quilboar. They kind of have a cool backstory, but there are only two almost-never-visited instances that cover them and you never see them again outside Durotar/the Barrens.

i hope they dont wash them off as completly eradicated by the cataclysm because that would be an horrible plot point

oh and apparently kobolds or snobolds serve the ones that gave them food and protection, can't one of the big two factions do this for cheap labor?

Im sure that there will be some more lore on the Quilboar and Centaur... that means more "Kill 100 Quilboar for sport" quests ;P

They could end worshiping the Elemental Lords or something.

I don't know, but if they get deleted, Warcraft will cry one of its most original races.

I've always like the Centaur, and I'd hope with Desolace getting a face-lift, their story could/would evolve. I imagine the Quillboar would be a worse state than now, with the Barrens now a shattered war-zone between the Alliance and Horde.

What's gonna happen to the Furbolg is also something I'm curious about, especially since I was disappointed that they had a minor and pointless role in WotLK. With the Horde taking Azshara, dominating Ashenvale and Darkshore being hit heavy, things mustn't be good for them. I've always wanted a Furbolg instance, and although i wont hold my breath on it, I'd like for the sealed off entrance to Timbermaw Hold in Azshara to become a new instance.

Well considering the Centaur are technically part Elemental it's not too much of a stretch to see them with an even greater role than before. I could definitely imagine an expanded questline surrounding the Magram vs. Gelkis, especially considering the Magram seem more in line with either the Legion or Twilight's Hammer (use shadow magics and etc.) while the Gelkis are definitely connected with the earth elements (Geomancers and stone elemental minions.)

This (http://www.scrollsoflore.com/forums/showthread.php?t=5065) will happen.

I hope.

Sorry for my feeble attempt to promote my fanfic-thingy.

Yeah, I could see all those races joining in single clans, united. No more dissensions, just a clan for the entire race.

And then, they could ally themselves with other factions.

I want Moira Bronzebeard to lead the Dark Iron Empire against her father.

I want her to be Empress-Regent until her son comes of age.

I want her to go up against her father so she can claim her throne as the future Queen of Ironforge and to secure it for her son as her heir.

Then the Ironforge Throne and Dark Iron Throne will be merged under a single monarch under Moira's son.

More like the throne of the United Kingdom of Greater Khaz Modan and Northern Hinterlands.

Reeling? Some of those quillboar did that to themselves. Death's Head quillboar anyone?

I think I know what you are talking about. Technically they are humanoid though.

Well, the murloc clans are known to unite into a single tribe at times I read.

Quilboar seriously need a bigger purpose...they are directly connected with the demigod Agamaggan and now have ties to the Scourge...with (supposedly) the new Southern Barrens being a higher level zone, this would be a perfect time to have the necromancers of Razorfen Downs to attempt a resurrection! Imagine a higher level of RFD with the final boss now being a zombified boar god, even bigger and nastier than the one in RFK. Hell, supposedly his skull is the entrance to RFD anyway, so the body is right there.

With Desolace's facelift, will that actually drive the centaurs out? Aren't they used to arrid, dry, dusty places, like the Barrens and 1K Needles? A lush Desolace (needs a new name....) doesn't quite sound like centaur country. Maybe the centaur tribes are banding together...or possibly destroyed outright by the new Shivarra that are hanging out...

That would be quite awesome. It would be even more awesome if the players could side against Magni, but somehow I don't think that'll be available. Of course, Moira could always decide to form a temporary alliance with the Horde...

But I think Moira hates the Horde too. The Horde had a hand in the death of Emperor Dagran along with the Alliance.

Did it? It seems to me that that quest was only added so that the Horde would have an excuse to go into Blackrock Depths. It makes more sense for it to have been accomplished by the Alliance, canonically speaking.

Well Thrall did have some diplomatic relations with Magni. He sent some soldiers to Blackrock to rescue Princess Moira so he can improve relations with Ironforge.

He sent them, but it seems unlikely that they and the Alliance forces killed Thaurissan simultaneously. I mean, it might have happened, but... eh, I guess we'll see.

Gameplay restriction prevents them from killing him simultaneously. But the quest is there, so there's a story about the Horde having a hand in it.
