New Alliance Race: Draenei.. but not Draenei?

Today seems to be full of interesting news. <A HREF="http://pc.gamespy.com/">GameSpy</a> has a new article <A HREF="http://pc.gamespy.com/pc/world-of-warcraft-expansion/705785p1.html">talking about the new Alliance race</a>. According to the article, the race is described as "a huge race about the size of Taurens. They have bluish skin (although as with the other races, this could be customizable) and small mindflayer-like tentacles hanging from their chin. They also have a large, scaled tail and what look like hooves. Having heard nothing official from Blizzard, the race appears to be the Draenei as they appear in their otherworldly realm of Outland." Incidentally, this describes <A HREF="http://www.scrollsoflore.com/gallery/displayimage.php?album=58&pos=55">The Broken</a> quite well...

Very interesting. There is a lot more information in that article, including talk that the videos at e3 will show both races ("non corrupt Draenei" and Blood Elves) meeting with the faction leaders and I guess say how they join. There is a lot more there so be sure to read it. It should be very interesting to see these videos and all this e3 stuff in the next few days :)

I hope the video shows the Trolls and Blood elves ready to scrap with each other, only to be kept at bay by the other members of the Horde. It would be cool to show just how much tension there will be (lore-wise) with the Blood Elves joining up...even if it doesn't, I plan to give the BE as much of a hard time as I do with the forsaken in WOW :D

Id like to know some lore behind these "Broken." Anyone let me in on this? I have heard the term before and I think I have an idea, but for shits and giggles someone tell me more about them. They have some explaining to do, as I think the Dreanei to be the most logic there are still some gaps that need to be filled in. For example, if these are in fact un-corrupted Draenei then how the hell did they get to Azeroth and remain un-corrupted and unknow for so long? If they came from Outland then how in the hell did they manage to open a rift to let them through? Lots to know....

+ We've seen how Metzen likes to break the standard fantasy stereotypes - Orcs being honourable, High Elves being shorter than humans etc. Adding a demon race to the supposedly 'holy' Alliance would be certainly in the style of Metzen.
+ Forsaken-type lore - they may have decided to make their own way after the fall of Archimonde, deciding not to join with Kil'jaeden.
+ Known to be powerful shapeshifters and manipulators (Kil'jaeden for example), meaning that a joining to th Alliance will certainly not be out of their grasp if they wish it to be so - the Alliance would have no choice in the matter: they've seen what Onyxia can do.
+ Of all the probable races debated, this one would probably produce the largest "What?!?" reaction promised in the quote from Blizzard.
+ Beastly and large race, a good balance addition for Alliance. Also, there are no physical inhibiting factors.
+ Their demonic affiliation makes them good counterpart of Blood Elves.
+ Eredar are not bestial or overly violent like many other demons, and have good reasoning. They know a good opportunity when they see one.

Okay why do some people keep on talking about them being Eredar? Especially some idiot who keeps on claiming it is on Hiyal. The Gamespy article doesn't even hint it is Eredar and also doesn't doesn't mention Hiyal (eventhough you see pinetrees, doesn't mean it has to be hiyal). And they are the ones that made mention of the new race and they also hint it is Draenei.

Also didn't Blizzard claim that the new race would be a race, you could already find in the game? I am not sure but I can't recall I have ever seen Eredar in WoW. And Gamespy claim they have seen the actual movie, and still claim it is the Draenei. So why are the fools on the WoW forums calling them Eredar, wisps turned into pure Eredar because of Archimonde? And also them

Gamespy may not to be the best gamingsite but they still would at least know if it is Draenei or something else when they have seen it with their own eyes. I have also seen two pics of the race. The face looks a lot like that of Night Elves with Draenei traits. But that can easily be the original faces of the uncorrupted Draenei.

Edit: so far it seems that WoWwiki is the site that brings all these rumors onto the WoW forums. It is on that site, so it must be true.. Ugh

Does anyone not see the connection here? Hyjal, wisps, Archimonde. Guys here's the truth, it's a simple theory.

First let me start out by saying Hyjal is the new starting zone, and this has been obvious for months now.

Second of all they are not true Eredar, they are wisps who are trapped in Eredar bodies. Well, actually Archimonde's body to be exact (which would explain the blue skin.) Now it's true that Archimonde did die in the explosion, however the wisps we're not killed. Instead they fused energy with Archimonde in the explosion and were permanetly trapped in bodies simliar to Archimonde's form. They just resemble the Eredar. In fact they are wisps, and Blizzard really wasn't lying when they said they were the new race. So no demons, and not true wisps, but a mix of both. Most likely with a whole new name. Should be very interesting. And come on, who didn't realize Hyjal would be the new starting area. It's exactly where Archimonde and the wisps fought. ;)

Kakwakas, to be honest, i have seen both pictures of the new race as well. And they don't even make me think of Eredar in the first place. The first thing that comes to mind is uncorrupted Draenei. The people on the WoW forum claim it is Eredar just because it has a tail and because the face looks a bit Elvish. But the Broken have a tail as well. And they also have the same tentacles in the art. The only thing that looks different is the face, but that can easily be because of them being uncorrupted.

EditL No problem Timolas. Really if I would call anyone here an idiot, I would use his/her name. Although I wouldn't even think of calling someone an idiot on this forum. Okay it is different on the blizzplanet forum. But they don't know as much about lore as the people do on this forum.

Okay, I can't deny that the top of the head looks like the forehead of an Eredar. Please, Blizzard don't let this be true. The forehead looks exactly the same as the Eredar art in the old Manual of Monsters.

Eredar is an Alien race. They are NOT Demons. The Nathrezeim are demons. The Humans have the Syndicate and the Defias, the Tauren have the Grimtotems, The Orcs have the Burning Blade, the Dwarves have the Dark Iron Dwarves, and the Eredar have the Warlocks loyal to Archimonde.

It is funny that my Manual of Monsters says that Eredar are DEMONIC. Every race from another planet or plane of existance is basically an Alien race. The Nathrezim and Eredar are both a Demonic race. I post this here because I can't post on the WoW forums. The Eredar will unfortunately join the Alliance as some pure breed but the real Eredar are a demonic race. And it is not in any way the same as the distinction within other races. The Manual of Monsters even claims that Eredar are ALWAYS CHAOTIC EVIL.

P.S. I really like the WoW forums. Especially since people believe everything. Eventhough the Eredar are in (most likely, I have no doubt), the true Eredar are just plain evil.
