My copy finally came today....

Well the art sucks again, worse this time I think. I mean, it's not all bad, but this book has by far some of the worst art of any WoW RPG book yet.

There is one good artist tho - Hannah Spute. I guess she is new (edit: ok she did a couple pieces in Lands of Mystery too, but not much). Check out some of her art:
http://www.summerdragoness.com/

Not all of her stuff is the best, but she does very good animals. I'm not sure I like the way she does "human" (or humanoid) faces though. That Dryad is really wierd looking (that's not used in the book for some reason tho - neither is the Keeper which I think looks good - it's Samwise's old old old old old Keeper art)

Anyways, I've only thumbed through it a bit so I'll post more opinions later. But overall the book seems sort of inferior quality to their others. I think it uses cheaper paper. Not as cheap as the Alliance & Horde Compendium, but close. The printing is all light and washed out. Kind of a disappointment :(

Mine is shipping by tommorow, here's hoping it has some redeeming qualities.

Any details on Fordragon?

Any details on Fordragon?
Not much. There is a little box dedicated to him on page 163 but it doesn't tell you much about his background.

And I have to agree with Warlock. The art in the book isn't all bad. Indeed there are some very nice pieces in there. But on the other hand we get stuff like this:

WTF?!? :odd:

Well, it's supposed to be Furbolgs, I guess. As to what they are doing, I have no idea.

Some more art of questionable quality from the book:

Although this next piece of art may not be the best I really love the idea of a goblin army fighting a mountain giant:

http://img128.imageshack.us/img128/6357/goblinsvsgiant9ey.jpg

And I think this "evolution of human military units" picture is really great: :kawaii:

Roflmao

The Mountain giant looks like a damn retard running through a field. The furbolgs look like they are doing drugs for pete's sake! The human military picture is nice. The night elf one is just gay.

The question is-

Why is step three in the military evolution better armoured than the last step?

Hopefully, the Horde one is better -.-

But if you dont count the art, how is the rest of the book?

Paladins have Bubbles, so they dont need as much armor as Footmans.

That pic made me laugh.... its supposed to be a serious representation of Furbolgs? I mean honestly; corrupted mad furbolgs
(which might be what that pic is supposed to represent) are supposed to look diabolical and evil, not... high.

Seriously, it looks like two teenage furbolgs just got into some serious weed or something and their mother is chewing them out. :sweatdrop

Because the Alliance Player's Guide has rules for playing Furbolg characters in it. There's some more bad Furbolg art in the book (the Furbolg on page 149 is especially hideous) but the picture I posted above really takes the cake.

So, some clan of Forbolgs is a part of the alliance then?

They are allies of the alliance, not part of it like the Wildhammer dwarves.

The retard Mountain Giant! :D Yeah that was a horrible one.

Did you scan those? You should show the three NE Druids.. ugg.. that's a real aweful picture.

P.S. some of the worst art is on these pages:
15, 82 (the furbolg one I think), 90/91, 92/93, 148, 168, and 212 (retard MG)

No, I bought the PDF of the book from drivethrurpg.com. So, I just "screenshotted" the art from that pages.

That artwork is disgusting. Its an insult to the Alliance.
Did some disabled, mentally challenged individual with a pencil be given the opportunity to draw for Blizzard? I think so.

Well, the alliance got exactly what it deserved.

But why did Metzen allow some butterfingers draw pictures of his characters?

Id rather have my faction have:
-Better Cities (RP-opportunities, defence, moving around...)
-Better (more imaginative and interesting) Quests
-Better side of AV
-etc.

...if it would mean my faction would get worse art in a book i wont buy.

So hold your comments about blizzard favouration-ne.

By the way, Hebit from the White Wolf forums is going to love the High Elf History section of the Alliance Player's Guide. ;)
Quote from page 129:
"After the high elves settled in their new home, savage troll clans attacked and terrorized the high elf settlements."

No mention at all that the high elves drove the trolls away from their lands to be able to settle there.

The orcs deserve to be brutally butchered down to the last child. So dont feed me that. ;)
Besides, I prefer SW to Org.

Waaaahhh, we drank the blood of this big guy who was on fire because he said it would give us immense power and we brutally slaughtered entire towns of humans and instead of executing us all they put us in internment camps! ;_;

[edit] I just read on PVPRP that half-elves can shadowmeld according to that guide... WTF?

Kenzuki
07-04-2006, 06:50 PM
Those are only Half-Night elves and that's only if they take a feat to do it. Considering the only Half-night elves would be about four years old lol.

That's what I was thinking. I guess having something in the book about half-night elves is just for the sake of completion.
Here's the way the poster worded it, though:
Half-elves can shadowmeld because of their Night elf heritage? eh? Dath'Remar abandoned the Night Elf ways and named himself Sunstrider. They are a daylight/Sun worshipper. I thought Night Elves' ability to shadowmeld had to do with their night and Elune veneration -- which High Elves and half-high elves lack. Did I miss something? Maybe I am wrong somewhere O_o

[edit] Just noticed that he posted it on WW's forums and that you saw already. =p

Bah, Stormind is such a typical medieval town. Orgrimmar is a true warrior city, with impenatrable spikes of DOOM! :p

And Horde ftw!

There should be some sparring grunts in Orgrimmar, and usable arena, and it would be AWESOME.

((And kick Undeads for Ogres!))

I meant that The Alliance has in WoW these things:

-Better Cities (RP-opportunities, defence, moving around...)
-Better (more imaginative and interesting) Quests
-Better side of AV
-etc.

So id like to take those things to Horde and you can gladly have our Book Art.
