Blizzard has added a new Flying Mounts page to their Burning Crusade section. It has a bunch of interesting information, including some actual history on Nether Drakes and some new screenshots.

Near the end of the Second War, the black dragon Deathwing traveled through the Dark Portal to Draenor. Believing the world to be a relatively safe haven for his offspring, he secreted away a cache of black dragon eggs. Following the war, Ner'zhul recklessly opened multiple portals on Draenor, and the magical stress tore the planet apart. The energies released in this catastrophe altered Deathwing's eggs, resulting in the nether drakes: partially corporeal and partially ethereal dragons who possess the ability to shift between the astral and physical planes. Without Deathwing's guidance, these otherworldly nether drakes are just now finding their own way among the blasted ruins of Outland.

Oh...my...god. I remember actually suggesting that this could possibly be the reason for the Nether Dragons long long ago! This is also PROOF that Deathwing did indeed go to Draenor and that part of the storyline is preserved!

And it also solidifes the DOTD storyline in its place once and for all (for those who still were debating it). Had the events of that book taken place before BTDP, Deathwing would have been too mentally crippled from Alexstraza's spell to care about his own eggs. The Aspects also would certainly have noticed Deathwing going into Draenor, seeing as how they were (and likely still are) keeping close eye on him.
