BIGGEST LOL EVER.
By some weird bug, I didn't pay for the Direct TV hing, but I'm watching ir. For free.
You know, most of the streams were sucking hard, so I tried the free vesion at the official page.
The thing is, that they didn't "disconnect" me, so I'm still watching it. However, if I open up a new window, the main stage appears blank, and I can't view it.
I was using the laptop, and had to turn it off, but I prety much watched the entire after-opening in that table with Metzen and those 2 guys talking about the movie and other stuff.
I guess I'll have to keep it turned on for the rest of the day next time they leave free spaces xDDD.
And anyway, the Direct TV thing went fine, and I was watching the free version. Pretty good :P.

I think it was Chilton. The panel had Alex Afrasiabi, Chilton, Street, the Art director and a few others.

It was Alex Afrasiabi.
A person got up and asked why Metzen is doing all the voices for big characters like Thrall, Vol'jin, and Deathwing. He then asked why they don't just get players to do some of the voices. Alex started with "Well first, Metzen doesn't voice Deathwing." and then they continued on about how they are strict about voice talent, shooting down the guys suggestion.

Well tbh if u stopped watching it there then its your own fault you wasted that money this Blizzcon has been the best yet in regards to panels etc. The only thing it didnt have was a huge announcement even if there was the Demon Hunter which looked great.

Sure, I guess if you like condescending sarcasm. Money well spent.
It was the weakest Blizzcon yet.

So far your the only person that i have known to say that it was Weak as a whole.
I to think my money was well spent and made sure i watched every second of the Blizzcon that i could as yesterday i went back and watched all of the Sc2 and Wc3 tournys because i missed them on the actual two days. Probably going to do the same with the WoW one to as i do enjoy watching them all.

I'm pretty sure I'm not the only person to say that.
Scott Johnson of The Instance was pretty critical of it as well:
http://www.archive.org/download/Instance207BlizzconEdition/Instance207.mp3
He even pulls his punches a bit, because, you know, he tries to be an objective journalist and he doesn't want to burn bridges with Blizzard, but he echoes much of the same criticism I've posted here.

This Blizzcon was far more community focused, it seems. I had a blast at some of the "blizzchat- live" panels, I met wonderful people and because a lot of the developers weren't strapped for time, I actually got to talk to a few.
But for someone who was just watching the DTV stream, I can see why you'd be disappointed. This year's convention was more "fun" and less newsworthy, and I don't like to say it, but you had to be there to enjoy it.

That's exactly the impression I got.
It was better for attendees, but for remote observers, it was a big letdown, especially after last year.
And I don't care how you slice it, Metzen's opening presentation was about the lamest thing I've ever seen. They would have been better off letting Morhaime give his pep talk and then moving right into the Diablo Ranger Class thing.

I actually haven't seen the opening presentation yet. There was a mixup with my badge and they wouldn't let me in with my laptop, and there was nowhere to put it, so I basically had to wait until the other guy from blizzplanet was available so I could leave my bag with him and go into the convention hall. It was something about "being a geek", right?

Yeah, so, basically Metzen stood up there and said "Geek is..." as he scrolled through pictures of nerd lore that he pulled off a google image search. After about 5 minutes, the audience was visibly agitated, as if everyone was thinking, "WTF... this is hardly 'I give you, World of Warcraft: Cataclysm'"

There's nothing wrong with enjoying it.
But the quality of it lent itself more to something Metzen would fart out on a weekly blog post or podcast.
For their annual convention with over 20,000 paid attendees and countless thousands more paid to watch remotely, it was a lackluster effort. I could have created that presentation in about two hours. It just wasn't up to par for the event.

Now i thought i would ask it here but when do you actually get your Ingame mini pet (Deathy) and the Sc2 portraits and do you simply get codes via email ?

When I picked up my badge they handed me a little plastic card with the code. Put the code into your BNet account and you got the pet, the profile and the decals.

If you got the virtual ticket then they'll send you an email. Eventually.

I'm just glad the 'Red Shirt Guy' was from here and not 'Snuggy Pirate' (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pCLfLfkhQO0). The latter makes himself look like a complete retard in front of hundred thousands of people.
