We have moved our hosting, and now on a shnazzy new server. Hopefully this will mean a LOT less downtime, as well as the wierd "I cant access the site from here, but I can access it there" issues. Silly web hosts.
Stay tuned for more, this was step 1. (and no, step 3 probabally wont be profit ;P)

Hurrah! Those weird loading problems were a bit annoying, so this is nice.
Throw in a banner ad or a 'store' section (like BlizzPlanet has) or something. It probably won't add up to profit, but it'd at least help the site costs.

some people did, as the webhost we had was bombarded by DOS attacks on the server we were on.
So they blocked ranges of IP's from their firewall until it stopped.
Well, this left a lot of people blocked out, because if somoene from say NYU sent some suspicious packet to the server, they blocked the entire college's subnet. Bah. On the world of warcraft guild I hosted on the same server, we had about 20% of our guildmembers unable to get to the site.
So any host who blocks potential visitors is a bad host!

Yeah that was a bitch. I don't know how a host can get away with crap like that.

Is this why you and the other admins were not the most active bunch?

Propably not (no offence intended).

Regarding websites and links... is there something special about Scrolls of Lore? When I try to paste a link through MSN to someone, they can't see it. I'ts like the entire message with that link is "invisible" to them, and the same when they post it to me. Is that fixed with this move or?

I see two logical reasons behind this.
1) Scrolls of Lore is a magic site.
2) Your MSN pals arent awesome enough. Only awesome people can get here.

Gee, number 2 seems pretty irrelevant considering some of our friends here. :P Or former friends who died violently at Warlock's hand. Including salesmen who foolishly sought to profit their pitiful industries using our sacred temple floor to beckon to us with their wares.

ive been "not posting" for a while, but still reading, cause i have been so damn busy!
I work for a college IT department, and it gets busy over the summer. Redoing the print server from scratch, figuring out what software classrooms need and re-installing every classrom/lab computer on campus, fixing other random broken phone systems, coordinating IT needs for 2 different construction projects (which i hope that they get that dorm done this week so I have more than a day to hook up all of the phones and network connections from a bare closet, ugh) - along with a major office renovation thrown in there :p Thats just some of the things I do at work, and uh, it takes a lot of time, even without the students and faculty around.
So I work later, then get home and do diddly, well, at least thats how it used to go, until a paid programming project that I started writing a demo for, had a meeting, was awared the contract, and then am 99% completed with it :P
All of that has even drained my WoW time really from me, especially since the guild Warlock and I were involved with broke up for some crappy drama crap that made people not want to logon for raids, then half the guild split..... ugh.... but anyway :P
So working on SoL has been on my back burner, and in about 3 weeks I will be done with this other project, and be able to use some time towards the work I actually pay money to do :P
yeah ads have been in mind, but they are gaudy. Hosting nowadays isnt too expensive, especially now that I host that other website I have been working on (more like a web-database) and have a vps that this is running on too (as a separate account, i bought too much so I could have my other things hosted too) - but I'm barely breaking from pushing the hosting up for this site :P It aint too small, especially if you want a reliable host.
I paid for a 3.99 godaddy hosting account, with more than enough bandwidth and disk space, but i stuck a basic php app on there and it ran like garbage - and I knew that this site would have to move to something mroe stable, unlike the shared host it was on (though more than 3.99:P)
So now we have room for growth both disk size (damn gallery!) , transfer (damn gallery!) and forums (large forums need large cpu/ram requirements for all of the sql queries, forumsx.net(war3.com's forums) was a bear on that :p)
so anywho enough about my babbles of what I have been up to, the important thing is, time has been coming to redo some of the things that are already in place that Warlock and I have done (content, site structure, layout, etc) and get this site up to what the warcraft lore community can use for a haven for lore that isnt tainted by anyone who wants to click the edit button, or any fanboy with a wow account who wants to say something they pulled out of their rear ends (or radio hosts :P)!
They day of reckoning is coming....
Oh wait, I didnt spec into that :P 30/21 for blessings/raidbot ftl :P

They were just robots.
Robots might be awesome, so they got one post.
And failed.
