I know I'm going to regret bringing this up, but I have a question about Bronze Dragonflight and Warcrafts timeline.

So from my understanding of the novel Thrall: Twilight of the Aspects, there is one correct timeline and if that timeline is deviated from (usually done by infinite dragon flight) then the world does caputz.

That being said, I'd like to bring up a few things:

1. The War of the Ancients books are all sorts of time travelling and time altering craziness.
2. *Spoiler of Dark Riders* Brink used a device to send people around him in Karazhan back in time 2 hours prior. Doesn't that technically alter the timeline?

I'm sure there are other examples, but with these two being said, it is apparent that the timeline is still correct since the world/time/space has not been torn asunder.

Does this mean that those two examples were meant to happen even though time was changed. In other words, was it suppose to happen in the timeline that the timeline was suppose to be changed?

Is the Warcraft timeline preset, or does every action set a stone in the timeline that is not suppose to be altered.

Or am I missing something entirely? Can the bronze dragon flight dictate what changes and what doesn't?

Well since I have nothing to do, I decide to do a let's play!

And the game in question is..............SUPER ROBOT WARS ALPHA GAIDEN!!!

Super Robot Wars? What's that?
Super Robot Wars is a turn based Strategy RPG series that pits various Giant Mecha from different games and anime, and let them beat each other into scrap metal. Unfortunately the series has been mainly Japanese only, but they localized Original Generations 1 and 2 for the GBA, and the RPG spinoff Endless Frontier for most English speaking countries.

Luckily, the game in question has been fan tranlated, so instead of sticking with Banpresto's original characters, we get to play as Mazinger, Getter, Gundams of all shapes and sizes, and many others.

But What is it About?

Oh, just play the game! Alpha Gaiden takes place between Alpha 1 and Alpha 2, where everyone is trying to stop the Titans, who are the only remaining enemy group from Alpha 1 left, so expect a lot of focus on Gundam series in the start, and then save the Earth from a planet-destroying massive shockwave that resulted from the final battle of Alpha 1. Will they succeed? Or will the world be either plunged into a thousand years of darkness under the rule of the Titans or destroyed by the ensuring shockwave?

However, things turns out to be much, much more complicated than it sounds.

I've never even heard about half of these series!
Worry not! For I shall do my their best to give a summery of both the series in question, and their relative usefulness in the game.

How are you going to be doing this? Any Viewer participation?
I will be going through the Hard route, doing my best to get every single Skill Point in the game. In regards to Viewer participation, if you want me to show off a certain mech or pilot, go ahead and say so.

However as I have a save game editor and the fact that we're playing on an emulator, I've decided to "intervene" at different points in the game....for instance, we know that you can only get stuff like Gundam ZZ Full Armored and the Sazabi on Easy Mode........well, I'm gonna edit the game files when we get to level 20 to get the Sazabi and FAZZ after that level because it's not fair that Amuro gets to use a Nu Gundam while Char is stuck with the Hyaku Skinki. I might also do something in stage 36 as well.............

And oh, click this link to listen to the kickass opening!

As mentioned in the other thread, I promised that I was going to go through ATVI's 10Q for the three months ended March 31st, 2013. Because I'd like to make this a higher quality analysis than my past ones though, I'm going to do this over several posts and over several days.

Today we'll start with the basic financial statements. To follow along, or to do your own calculations, you can look up the financial statements at http://www.sec.gov/cgi-bin/browse-ed...ion=getcompany. There you will find required statements put out by the combined company. For Forms 10K and 10Q, the company also provides interactive data, which provides links to the basic financial statements in excel format.

NET OPERATING ASSETS:
(Assets minus liabilities, omitting nonoperating items, which in this calculation include cash and cash equivalents, long and short term investments, and goodwill. Long-term debt as well as commitments and contingencies would ordinarily be excluded as well, but Blizzard reports none.)

In Millions
Mar 31, 2013: ($195)
Mar 31, 2012: ($172)

NET OPERATING INCOME AFTER TAXES:
(Operating Income minus income tax expense, minus tax shield effect of nonoperating items - assumes statutory rate of 35%)

In Millions
Mar 31, 2013: $439.65
Mar 31, 2012: $359.90

Explanatory note: I noticed that Blizzard included the cost of sales for intellectual property licenses, which looks more to me like a sale of assets rather than a sale pursuant to the normal course of business. Because sales would have been included in subscription and licensing, and because the profit margin method produced revenue numbers which would have resulted in subscription revenue being less than what it was reported in note 7, I derived sales by subtracting subscription revenue (note 7) from subscription, licensing, and other revenues (income statement). The income from this item, net of tax, was subtracted from NOPAT before this adjustment.

RETURN ON NET ASSETS:
Mar 31, 2013: -2.25
Mar 31, 2012: -2.09

RNOA DISAGGREGATION - NET OPERATING PROFIT MARGIN.
(NOPAT/Sales)
Mar 31, 2013: 33%
Mar 31, 2012: 31%

Note: Profit margin does not materially differ.

RNOA DISAGGREGATION - NET OPERATING ASSET TURNOVER
(Sales/NOA)
Mar 31, 2013: -6.79
Mar 31, 2012: -6.81

Fluctuations, expressed as a percentage of prior year number.
NOTABLE BALANCE SHEET FLUCTUATIONS (10% or more)
Current:
Short Term Investments: -23%
Accounts Receivable: -66%
Inventories: -24%
Software Development (Current): -13%
Deferred Income Taxes: -16%
Other Current Assets: -30%
Accounts Payable: -46%
Deferred Revenues: -32%
Accrued Expenses and Other Liabilities: -32%

Noncurrent:
Long-Term Investments: 13%
Software Development: 24%
Intellectual Property Licenses: -67%

NOTABLE INCOME STATEMENT FLUCTUATIONS (15% or greater)
Cost of Sales - Online Subscriptions: -17%
Cost of Sales - Software Royalties and Amortization: 97%
Cost of Sales - Intellectual property licenses: 443%
Sales and Marketing Expenses: 35%
Net Income: 19%

SUBJECTIVE ANALYSIS:
Looking at the flux numbers primarily, there is cause for concern in the decreases of accrued expenses and inventory. These are usually leading indicators of future growth - when they decrease, that usually means that management expects a slowdown. (You aren't producing as much because you don't expect to sell as much)

Deferred revenues also decreased, which indicates that a good portion of Blizzard's net income represents sales from prior periods. I will delve into this number further (though, I've already scratched the surface of that in a different thread).

In regard to the income statement, remember the matching principle in looking at the cost of sales number for online subscriptions. That number does not represent current development, it recognizes development costs in relation to revenues realized in the current period, including current subscription revenue as well as deferred revenues. We're looking at the work that was put into MOP and the patches, which, compared to the work that was put into Cataclysm for those revenues recognized for the three months ended March 31, 2012, was 17% lower. This is expected given that WoW is dancing the line between "cash cow" and "dog" in terms of its development as a product, but it may also explain the current comparative lack of Alliance development. Marketing, by contrast, is up by 35%.

Finally, software royalties and amortization, as well as the costs of sales for intellectual property licenses are up by 96% and 443%, respectively. The former isn't surprising - given that new software titles were developed in the past year and now must be amortized, but the latter is. Selling off operating assets is not generally considered to be a good thing, and I now have questions as to what those licenses were and why they chose to sell them.
Of course, expect further analysis in future posts. I would like to reserve the next two posts for that purpose, so please wait until I've done that before commenting. Update: Posts reserved, comment away.
