Default Mass Effect Discussion

Since the dragon age discussion board is so popular, I thought I'd make a thread about the mass effect universe. Even though Mass effect 3 won't be out for a while, I thought maybe I'd make a thread about it to discuss lore or anything about the game.

So lets talk about the future of the mass effect...oh yeah? OH YEAH!

First off

What do you think of Grunt? This Krogan is the "perfect" Krogan according to Okeer. What do you think is his impact on the future of the Krogan?

Genetically engineering a potentially fertile grunt is a heavy risk.

But the priiiiiize...

Given that the Korgan were evolving to the genephage they'd have been fine. With Grunt they might have become a great power again but now the biggest race of dicks is in full effect it will end up the same. (If humans can out space cop Turians and the fact that they have reaper tech, I'd say watch out for humans.)
He who chases monsters must take care not to become a monster himself.

I'm pretty sure that after the Reaper threat, the Krogan would become the main antagonist for the Council again.

A few likely scenarios:
1. Paragon Shepard helps Mordin save the genophage cure data and uses it to cure the genophage. Yet Tauchanka is still a nuclear wasteland that could barely sustain the remaining Krogan that had the genophage and with a sudden spike of Krogan population, the Krogan are filled with numbers and are forced to return to the warlike Horde they used to be and expands from Tauchanka, becoming the council's sworn enemy once again and take over the Terminus system. War erupts.
-Not only can they breed naturally, but with Grunt, they have a template for the perfect soldier and even if the council can put a dent on the "natural" krogan's numbers, they can also mass breed more "Grunts" as an elite team of Krogan.
2. Renegade Shepard helps Mordin destroy the genophage cure data but still unleashes Grunt. They give up on production through sexual means and uses bio-engineering as their main source of re-production. Embittered by the genophage and backed by a tank bred army of blood-thristy Beserker Krogan, a warmongering warlord creates a Horde and goes on a conquering spree in the Terminus systems.

Krogan are basically warcraft orcs in space. Most likely will ally with other nefarious savage/council enemy races like the Yahg, Batarians, Geth, and Vorcha.

Grunt is not the issue with the Genophage it's the female Krogans that have the issue.

The geth>>> The krogan

A small regenegade group of them put the citadel on their knees, imagine what the whole collective would do to the universe

They have no interest in war

And frankly i'm more interested in the ancient technology the virtual aliens promised to the council.

They would if the organics get in the way.

What virtual aliens do you speak of?

So we know Earth is being attacked by the Reapers, though I'm guessing Mass Effect 3 will have some huge inter-galatic civil war as they fight the Reapers for the 'last time'.

Although the trailer begs; Why did they come now? They don't have a good excuse besides being locked in another dimension, if they were.

I pray that there is a Mass Effect 4 and not an MMO. It probably won't be with Bioware working on the Star Wars MMO, right?

I would love it if they come up with a Volus, Hanar, or Elcor party member! It would be really interesting to see the Hanar and Elcor animated in action. Doesn't Zaeed mention something about a Hanar assassin?

I don't even think a Mass Effect MMO is a possibility... where did you get that from?

Mass Effect 3... I REEEAALLLYY hope it improves on Mass Effect 2 in a lot of ways. Especially the plot, or at least how it was executed.

Pretty sure Bioware has said that Mass Effect is a trilogy. Now, will they be able to stop EA from forcing them to make more games beyond ME3? I can't say. But I can say they've stated their intent to end the series or at least the story of Commander Shepard in the third game.

You had dozens of teammembers, which meant 70% of the game consisted out of either being on a mission to recruit someone, or being on a mission to make someone like you. While it allowed for great character development on those characters, it also meant that after you did all the recruit/rep missions, you were already on the second-to-last (main)mission.
I think they should've slowed down on the number of teammembers and increased the amount of story development.

I honestly liked Dragon Agerigins more than Mass Effect 2. But that might also be because I couldn't for the life of me load any of my 8 ME1 playthroughs into the second one. Something which frustrated the hell out of me everytime I heard about the Council being all human while I saved them every single time in ME1.

It seemed like the logical next step before I found out Bioware was behind the new Star Wars MMO. Why don't you think it would be a possibility though?

Right-o, exactly! They have said it's a planned trilogy, but they'll do more as long as ME3 doesn't fail miserably somehow. I think it will be the end of Shepard's chapter for sure.

I'd like to choose my race for a main character, but I still don't want an MMO. They could go with the Dragon Age origins idea, where the different races have separate introductory levels.

No real distinctive reason, just they've never implied anything of the sort, and yeah, "The Old Republic" is coming out too. I mean, if it was ever gonna happen it's a ways away.

I don't think there will necessarily be a Mass Effect 4, they've made it very clear this is Commander Shepard's trilogy. I do think there will be other games in the Mass Effect universe, but it won't be a sequel to three.

I don't see them making it themselves, but I could see them hiring a studio that specializes in 4X to do a SotS/GalCiv-style space strategy game. The universe seems to be made for it.
