Default Music - The unofficial thread

mu⋅sic [myoo-zik]
–noun
an art of sound in time that expresses ideas and emotions in significant forms through the elements of rhythm, melody, harmony, and color.

Music is an art form whose medium is sound. The word derives from Greek μουσική (mousike), "(art) of the Muses".

-------------------------------------------------------

The power of music is awesome. There is not much that is as powerful as music. To me music is much more than something to listen to. With music you can express feelings and moods. Music is a description of life, and music is a way of life.

The purpose of this thread is to tip people about good music, and discuss music overall.

I listen alot of different kinds of music. The Beatles is by far a personal favourite. But I can also listen to Public Enemy sometimes, and Metallica.

To get the thread starting I can post some Youtube-links with music I like.

Faith no More - Epic
Pearl Jam - Alive
Green River - P.C.C
Sleep - Holy Mountain
Reverend Bizarre - Pyramids of Mars
Creedence Clearwater Revival - Lookin' out My Backdoor

Please, do enjoy.

you mean UNofficial thread right?

Well seeing as how right now I think im getting fixated on a woman that has something that the others dont, I will put a list that should give you an Idea

Mando Diao: Ochrasy
Gorgeous song, the message behind it Id wager is, even tough the world is full of shit... lets enjoy ourselves, especially if we can because there are so many other people that cant do that thing

Black Rebel Motorcycle Club: And im Aching
Another song of the same color than the above, this also deals with a similar theme and tune so you might see where my tastes are headed.

This song speaks of how everything in life, has the possibility to go away, and that hurts... but you better come to accept that idea

Nada Surf: Inside of love
A song by my favorite group (to bad their latest material is not up to specs), a love song for those that long it, for those that lost it and for those that have it... the lyrics always make me feel fuzzy on the inside, and quite honestly on the verge of tears

The Midnight Juggernauts:
Every song they got is awesome, I would recomend Shadows, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XxTDrd_UZoc, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J6SKN...eature=relatedand Nine lives

And that will be all for today

Memory is immortality of a sort.

In the night, when the wind dies and silence rules the place of glittering stone, I remember. And they all live again."

Horde Flag A few more to enjoy

Hopefully I'm not getting too out there for anyone but I have a few more tracks I'd like to submit for your consideration. Also just want to say once again good thread idea on a very off topic subject.

The Manliest of Men, my personal favorite, Matt Barlow. This guy just rocks so hard I wet myself. From the great American metal band Iced Earth.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FsVda...om=PL&index=49

and another from them, just because I worship the Barlow. This one's a bit more angsty than the last but I really dug it when I was a younger man, and getting into fights with ex-girlfriend's father and that stupid nonsense that all (Most, just the lucky ones) young men and women go through. Anyway, this one is called "Last December"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DlsmUMUb39s

and something that we're listening to now, a bit more mellowed out but a very nice, feel good jam. Hearing a bit of the old Chili Peppers when I listen this one.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T2-5rnk9yHU

One last song from me, I'm really curious to see what else get's posted in here guys, because it's all been really good so far. Anyway this one kind of showcases my personal musical hero, Mike Portnoy, I've been doing percussion for about 10 years now, everything from traditional snare back in the day, to xylophone, and of course the set. This guy still blows my mind everytime I listen/watch, and usually has a nice manly beard to boot!

For suuuuure, that show has one killer soundtrack. I just found my old copy of the movie tonight! Woot I think it's time to watch Spike Jeet Kune Do his way out of some sticky situations.

Although this one isn't strictly music, it is one of my favorite old musicians talking about his music career and drug habit problems. One guy in particular who has had a rough life etc. and taken out of context alot to make him look like a hate monger instead of some guy who loses his temper easily.

Like I said not quite music but he gets rolling in that lecture hall and freaks out the poor (cute) girl interviewing him: Anyway here is Phil Anselmo at Loyola University.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RAbYH2I-yxA

Heh and one more, my own personal favorite Misfits song. We are 138. No video for this one but the sildeshow they put together is entertaining if nothing else and matches the music fairly well.

Seems to be a couple of "metalheads" (hate that expression, but meh) on these forums.

When it comes to metal and such, I like Carcass.

Carcass - Corporal Jigsore Quandary

TOM WAITS:
Going out West
Poor Edward
Kommienzuspadt
Starving in the Belly of a Whale
The Piano has Been Drinking.
Gun Street Girl <- This is the first Tom Waits song I heard and usually the first song I recommend others to listen to.

I could go on all day listing Tom Waits songs.
Same with Johnny Cash:
Sunday Morning Coming Down
Give my Love to Rose
Jackson- w/ June Carter

And probably my favorite song:
Marty Robbins- Big Iron <- I figured the wow video appropriate.
Big Iron- Mike Ness

Thumbs up

Good picks, chicken. I was digging the country/punk tunes early this AM.

and this one's specifically aimed at Aneurysm although there's probably other fans of this band hanging around as well. You just jump out at me as someone who would dig this band, if you don't already.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AXHlMBjq240

Bad Religion, and of course we support our brothers of all races and creeds yadda yadda but a good song nonetheless. Got to love it when a punk band is actually being somewhat punkish, and not a pop/rock group

Heh the first drummer from Steve Miller band taught me all i know. I think he quit back in the day to go to college and become a band teacher. Very cool guy though and great percussionist from a very chill band.

Forgetting my old Shaman song:
Metallica - Ride the Lightning

And my Ret Pally song:
...And Justice for All.

Could probably cycle through the first few Metallica albums and find songs for each class actually.

And this is my current alarm clock tone.

I've recently become a sucker for the Metallica-demos. The ones with Dave Mustaine and Ron Magovney, and without Kirk and Cliff.

Metallica - Seek & Destroy
Metallica - Motorbreath
Metallica - Jump in the Fire

I think I'm fond of them because they're the roots of the best Metallica-album; Kill 'em All, and they're a a little bit different from the original songs, which I've (horribly enough) grown a bit tired of.

Edit:
And now I'll take the chance to promote Nuclear Holocausto's first song; Denying the "Holocaust". Nuclear Holocausto is an NSBM-band which is super-serious, and it consists of me and three friends.
Nuclear Holocausto - Denying the "Holocaust"
Disclaimer; We are super-serious.

Dunno about you but those soviets have a very kickass march, makes one want to drive a tank or grab a bolt rifle or something
