Anyone on this board have an interest in the NFL and enjoy talking about it? Discussing it out near Dallas territory tends to get one-sided and repetitive when you are a New York Giants fan.

My boss invited me to his fantasy football league. He's been trying real hard to be nice to me, but he doesn't share many of my interests, so I didn't want to decline. At the same time I don't want to come in last place and look dumb.
Are any of these people not worth keeping? Would any of the bench players be better than the ones I have on the roster? Peyton Manning(Ind - QB) Marques Colston(NO - WR) Steve Smith(NYG - WR) Hines Ward(Pit - WR) Adrian Peterson(Min - RB) Rashard Mendenhall(Pit - RB) Owen Daniels(Hou - TE) Jonathan Stewart(Car - RB) Garret Hartley (NO - K) Minnesota (Min - DEF) Bench Reggie Bush(NO - RB) Jay Cutler(Chi - QB) Derrick Mason(Bal - WR) Heath Miller(Pit - TE) Fred Jackson(Buf - RB) Braylon Edwards(NYJ - WR)

You got Payton Manning AND Adrian Peterson on your fantasy team?
Yeah, you're good. By the way, I'm a die-hard Washington Redskins fan... wife is a big time Vikings fan, and we also follow the Cardinals around these parts. |

I was 3rd in picking so I was able to get Adrian Peterson after Chris Johnson and Ray Rice were picked up. We had 8 players pick in a 12345678 87654321 pattern so all the other good running backs were nabbed before I could get another one.
Pretty much everyone in this area of NJ is a Giants fan. Superbowl 42 probably got the most excitement you can illicit from New Jersey towards a sports team.

Wow Peyton Manning with M. Colston and S. Smith from NYG not to mention A. Peterson? I think you will be in good shape. The only thing I would of done different perhaps is pick up Ahmad Bradshaw from the NYG versus Stewart, the kid is going to have a great year as the team's #1 RB. Though Carolina has a sick running game too.
Ah the Parcells era, how I wish I saw those great years but I wasn't around then. I do admit I love to watch Coughlin's face expressions on the sidelines. So who do you guys think will win the Superbowl this year? I know the season hasn't started but it's fun to take a guess. I have to admit I'm following the Packers hype. Aaron Rodgers has been deadly the last 2 years and the defense under Dom Capers is entering the second year in the 3-4. ![]() Last edited by Vil'rexin : 09-07-2010 at 11:35 AM. |

I liked the Vikings chances before their receivers started dropping like flies...
I also think the Cardinals should be begging Kurt Warner to come out of retirement. They're going to drop like a lead brick with no decent QB this year. |

The Cardinals should of picked up McNabb before Washington could of, lot better than Derek Anderson. Good thing for the Cardinals though that San Francisco didn't pick up McNabb. Could you imagine that 49ers defense with a a very good quarterback like McNabb? Scary... |

At this point I expect Arizona to run the ball a lot, and hope that Anderson is good enough to keep them in contention for the division (and the NFC West is still weak enough for that to happen). |

. Anyhow, I was never a fan of Hot Tub Leinart but I never agreed with them picking up Warner for Leinart's sake. I'm not trying to blame Warner or the FO with Leinart's failure but I think it could of turned out a lot better if Leinart had the growing pains that other recent QB's such as Flacco and Ryan have gone through. Ashame they wasted the pick now but oh well. As much as I respect the Cardinals team, I just don't seem them beating the 49ers defense for the division. |

Any time you can bring in a solid veteran QB, it's a good move. Younger QBs can mature on the bench - look at Aaron Rodgers. |

As much as I hate to admit, and knowing how hard it is to repeat, the Saints are another. Brees is just that scary lol, especially if Gregg Williams (unbelievable douche) can get that D to keep gettng TO's like last year. Bleh

@Bolvar - Oh I agree that getting Warner for the team was the best move for sure and quarterbacks can develop behind great ones but I've always been for getting the young QB's in there to develop them better. Trust me, I was rooting for the Cardinals in 09 Superbowl. Warner is a class act.
@BaskinRidge - Ought to be a great game but I think the Giants win a close one by 3 or 7. Playing their first home game in the new stadium SHOULD pump them up to play at their hardest. I worry about our defense against your run game, which I have a feeling Fox is going to try and keep Eli on the sidelines if he can. Saints could do it again but I would hate that to happen so much. Drew Brees is the only thing I like about that team and I detest the "WHO DAT" chant. It's not even theirs to begin with and it's just retarded. |

Yep, I hate them too, so very much. Brees is what made that team, without him, they would still be a complete shit franchise. To think, my panthers could've gotten him when he was a free agent, but instead we stuck with Jake Delhomme....................(Now I feel like Bolvar did when he saw Bolvar die at the WG, Oh god kill me now!!@!@!)

The Saints took a risk in picking up Brees. Nobody was certain he'd be healthy or would perform as well as he has.
In hindsight, it makes the Chargers almost look bad (although Rivers is a pretty good QB). I guess San Diego deserved a glut of talent at that position after the Ryan Leaf debacle. |

@Baskin - If the Panthers want to win, they will need to shut down the passing game that we have. We have a very talented group of young receivers that has the potential to be a top 5 receiving core in the next few years. They also should have Moore only manage and try nothing too big to win. I think if the Giants D forces Moore to win the game, we got this one.
@Bolvar - It was a risk indeed but NO had shit going for it beforehand so it was kind of a "nothing better to do" situation at the time. You can thank A.J Smith for the whole Brees-Rivers situation but I think it worked out best for both teams. I never liked A.J. Smith, he's a massive tool. |

Want to hear a really stupid one? Giving a 34 year old QB who just had Tommy John surgery the year before a 5 year 42 million dollar extension right after his worst game (playoff) ever. Now THAT, was a risk. All for a QB who, at his very peak, was only somewhat talented lol. Quote:

I agree about Moore, the kid is solid, but he is young with a young WR core outside of Smith. Put the game on him, and you guys have a solid chance.

Hahaha Albert Haynesworth, I laughed so hard when I heard you guys picked him up a year ago. Speaking of retarded contracts, anyone else think Darelle Revis is going to look retarded when he doesn't play as great as last year with his fat, overpaid contract?

Pro tip - Professional athletes are as lazy as anyone else. Give them millions in guaranteed money and assure their comfortable financial security for life, and you can expect them to react like anyone else who wins the lottery - they stop going to work and sit at home getting fat on drugs, alcohol, and bacon. Not necessarily in that order. |

lol I saw you mentioned that earlier, and you took the bait. I'm well aware of Dan Snyder's history of paying for overpriced FA's/vets.
It's old, but I love it.... http://www.bangcartoon.com/2008/caesar.htm Quote:
As for the Jets, they're clearly pushing to win this year. When the cap is reinstated, they'll have problems. Besides, Revis could be amazing this year, but their defense looked more than capable enough without having to screw their cap up for later down the road. If anything, Mark Sanchez and that "passing" game is their biggest worry atm. Hell, at least the Panthers were missing players to make our passing problems so apparent during the preseason. What was their excuse lol?

On to another question, who is your favorite player of all time and why? I'd have to say Lawrence Taylor from what I read and the video footage I've seen, you know a player is amazing when Offensive schemes are created to prevent this man from getting to your players. For a player I've actually grew up watching, I'd have to pick Michael Strahan ![]() |

Well it's really hard to say why, maybe because only a few countries have professional league for it. Soccer also got a lot of variety.
