Default Visually, has the Horde gone soft?

By Horde, I mean the one in WC3.

Maybe it's because of the older engine, the Horde races looked much more muscular and menacing. Every unit with the exception of peons and demolishers looked looked like they are about to commit murder. They also had a distinct feel that the WoW armors couldn't give them.

In WC3, orcs only had a slight hunch. This gets exaggerated in WoW, and makes them like mouthbreathing gorillas. Trolls looked sinister, now they look like goofy skinny kids. The new tauren design makes them look too passive, and their speech got slowed down a lot in comparison, which makes them appear more peaceful.

Thoughts anyone?

I think I disagree. Sure they look a bit different but so does every race.

Night elves have their bounce, dwarves are like boxes.

I do like WoW trolls and Tauren better then Warcraft 3 trolls and Tauren.

Orcs stood pretty straight. Take a look at the grunt. What they had was sloped shoulders.

Anyways, yeah. It kind of sucks that the Horde I fell in love with (loincloth-wearing, axe-swinging barbarians) is now at a point where you've got orcs with flamethrowers strapped to their backs.

True dat, I especially agree on the tauren bit, they were moe-ified, pacified to a ludicrous extent and shrunk.

Not to mention that the tauren are supposed to have borderline superhero strength, we never see that anymore and I really doubt the average WoW player even knows about it, and may even be forgotten by the lore team.

Needless to say I could go on about this for quite a while, as I find the passivity of the tauren infuriating.

To the point that I had some sick pleasure in watching Kromgar pwn them.

I'm inclined to agree on Orcs and Trolls.
Undead and Tuaren look MUCH better though.

What does moe-ified mean?

Speaking of night elves, they also lost that ornate regal looking feel.

Another thing I think has been lost is the human's arrogance and ability to grow badass mustaches.

I think trolls looked goofier in WC3

When did night elves have a 'ornate regal feel'?

I was thinking of something like this. Their armor had these thin silver engravings on them, kind of like the ornaments in this picture.

Technological progress sucks?

I admit that I don't particularly like the orcish models.

I don't see how the Flamethrowers are bad at all, though I do agree the current orc and other Horde models are far less imposing.

Because the orcs I fell in love with were half-naked barbarians and axe-toting berserkers.

I understand that it's only a natural process that as the orcs become more advanced, they utilize more technological weaponry, armor, etc.

I don't mind the change, because it's not that big. You still got guys like Garrosh. Half-naked axe-toting berserkers. As long as the orcs still retain that.... I'll be happy...

I think it's just the art style that keeps the characters from looking visually imposing. All of the newer models look a lot better. I'd love for my toons to lose the hunch too... and for Taurens to be redesigned entirely so that I don't have to look at a hump anymore!

My taurens demand their fucking necks back.
My undead demands his fucking flesh at the ellbows and his spine back.
My blood elf demands his fucking spine and back.
My troll demands to be fucking played (i'm totally cool with trollmodels)
I don't have an orc because i hate orcs and because they look nothing like Warcraft-Orcs. But i had an orc-lady warrior once. Looked nice.
My goblin demands to be played and, for the love of Robojebus, at least ONE facial skin that doesn't look like crap.

That's why all (except one) of the goblin toons I have are females. Much more pleasant faces, among other things.

I actually like the male casting animations a lot better but those faces...

Orcs need to stand upright
Tauren should probably be more poised, they look too relaxed
Trolls are fine, there awesome.. save the females who look to rigid
Blood elves are fine, little stiff but what you expect.
Goblins are spot on
Forsaken could be slightly less goofy when they run
