At this year's annual Toy Fair in NYC, Blizzard is set to unveal two new Blizzard-themed board games. The first being "Monopoly: World of Warcraft":



Locations will be represented by familiar WarCraft locals, and I'm sure there will be plenty of interesting themed Chance and "Treasure" Chest cards as well. Blizzard is currently holding a contest on their Facebook page to vote for which six of the ten possible pieces will be used for the final version. The game will be in stores this May for $39.95.

The other reveal is "RISK: StarCraft":


Not as many details here, other than the fact that all three factions are playable along with six heroes (and hopefully with little plastic marines, zealots and zerglings) :) The game will come out sometime this summer for $49.45.

FUCK YES.


Risk is the king of all board games. You may praise Chess for its timeless simplicity and strategy, and I will not fault you for it. But when I want to have a good time, I always turn to Risk.

And Starcraft is a fucking awesome setting for a game about conquest and war.

Awe, and here I was hoping for a Diablo Scrabble game with rune combinations instead of triple word scores.

Still, for once, I'm buying an ad addition to a boardgame, because why the hell not?

Seriously some of you disgust me. This is entirely lame, its one of the lamest things in lame town.

Monopoly is one of the worst games of all time played by drooling morons who don't know any better. Just because a game is old and popularized by the depression doesn't make it good.

Buy another edition of shitty games because it has a logo on it! Wooooo

Now... let me know when Diablo Settlers of Catan is out.

Hey! I happen to enjoy Monopoly! Not that I'd ever buy a branded edition. But Risk is awesome in all it's manifestations.

Risk Legacy is rad, Risk 2210 AD is alright, the rest... all shit. Especially the original, it's a broken game that involves rolling higher than your opponent nothing more. Depth and strategy of a coin toss that takes over 3 hours.

I kinda wish they'd made Warcraft Risk instead. I bet Outland would be the new Australia, since you could only get in by invading Hellfire Peninsula via The Blasted Lands.

I always thought Settlers of Kezan was a more amusing parody name (to the point I considered making a flash game but I don't really know the rules well enough... or how to do flash )

Flash is pretty easy to pick up, especially for turn based stuff, most of the hard work comes in the graphics design.

The game rules are pretty damn simple, and it's insanely addictive, I'd find some nearby nerd friends and go for it. I've been thinking about carving a 3D miniature version myself just for shits and giggles.

Damn you, now I have thus urge to download virtual monopoly! Well, there goes a few hours down the drain.

Also question. Is this original monopoly/risk with war/starcraft flavor, or does it have unique rules (like those heroes that were mentioned)?

If not then I could make a pretty decent knock off using cardboard, glue and a color printer, all of which I have.
