More like Nyo's old job for no money and no benefits and absolutely no creative control outside doing things like organizing CDev questions. :p Though Blizzard does do a University Reltions program where they do take in college students for 12 weeks over the summer and pay them a tiny bit. I guess if that's what Oma actually is doing he may actually make a little bit.

I mean it's not really working at Blizzard as so much as it is just watching how Blizzard operates. Kinda like how I currently am shadowing a Veterinarian for my major but it's not like I'm actually working at that clinic.

Trust me, I'm working FOR blizzard. They're paying me a surprising amount for an intern and I've already got some work laid out for me. Hell, I've got a Diablo and Starcraft study guide to brush up on before I get there so I can be a productive member of all their teams, not just Warcraft.

Woah! That was kind of... unexpected. And great news. Felicidades, camarada Omacron.

I don't know if I have any word of advice that could be actually useful to you. But if I do, it could be the following:

• Don't act like you own the place or have the key to every question while no one else does. Even if you are. You will not get friends/backup/good and useful critics that way.
  
  
• I have found that one of the best attitudes to have is to take time to listen to the concerns, ideas and perceptions of those who will be your coworkers and/or people who hang around there doing something (even the cleaning staff). You may learn something valuable; you may not - but they can return the favor, and if not, it is at least good for networking.
  
  
• Don't go out of your way to be nice (or evil). But try to carry around a generally good demeanor and helpful disposition.
  
  
• If they actually expect new ideas from you and ask you about them, tell them the ones you got. But if not, don't bug them endlessly with them while they are busy or relaxing (eating, socializing) in every conversation.
  
  
• However, if the discussion arises or you manage to start one, go ahead.
  
  
• Don't dismiss their points of view: add yours. Be very careful of that.

Also, very important:

• If you get to be the boss/teacher/manager of someone, don't just throw orders and expect to get the results you want.
  
  1) Talk beforehand to the person who was assigned to think and resolve that problem or do that task and respectfully tell them what results are being looking for.
  
  2) Drop by or call him/her a little bit later, early in the project, to see if they actually are doing or planning to do it in a way it is supposed/you want it /the company wants it to be done or in a different way that could actually get better results.
  
  
• If you get to be the one assigned to it and your boss/manager is just throwing orders and not checking on you later on, then you must be the one to approach him/her/them. "Am I doing this correctly?", "What do you think of what have I been doing?", "Can I get your opinion on the work I have done?"

You can not imagine the quantity of time, money, misunderstandings and drama we save in my work by just doing the aforementioned last two points.


And finally, recommend them Scrolls of Lore. We are a tireless and passionate source of ideas, analysis and feedback that you can use at no cost but time.
