Maybe the next Half-life went through so many iterations that it turned into Ricochet 2?
Gordon Freeman? People wanted a new character. Gravity gun? Overused mechanic. Walking? Overdone. Borealis? Cut. The arctic? That has been cut since before Half-life 2 itself shipped. The employee handbook even mentions this. The helicopter to the arctic? It would be better from a story perspective to start in a different way. So, they ended up with a nameless character, disks, bouncing, and a whole new game that was similar enough to an old game that they left it. The Ricochet hype was to test the waters to see if fans would become endeared to the concept instead of a new Half-life.

All I ever wanted was an Advanced Mode. Portal 2 was too easy, and I say that as somebody who normally isn't very good at puzzles. It also felt like the different testing things weren't really used together too much, which was too bad. Portal 1 may have had less testing things but they were more fully leveraged.

Cave Johnson has come back from the dead to explain the story behind the new DLC. It involves multiverses, test chambers built by sentient octopuses, and reflections on Cave's father.

Sorry for double posting, but this warranted it's own post. The Perpetual Testing Initiative comes out today and some details have emerged.
-Only single player chambers can be created, co-op will be added in a future DLC. -When using player made maps, you will not play as Chell nor ATLAS or P-Body. Instead your character will resemble those black silhouette people in the videos. -There is a new single player campaign, but it works very differently from the main one. Whenever you play a player created test chamber, special Cave Johnson scenes will play out. Each time you do a new chamber the story-line progresses. -The single player campaign's story is a prequel, set before the events of Portal 1. It appears to revolve around Cave Johnson meeting/possibly battling alternate universe versions of himself such as Dark Cave, Mantis-Man Cave, CaveDOS, and Cave Freeman. (There's also an alternate universe Caroline where she's one of the aliens from Alien.) -Also a new character is introduced: Greg, Cave Johnson's put-upon assistant who helps him oversee the multiverse testing. No such gif exists. :'D

That doesn't mean it'll be featured. That's a Gamespot article on games that we've heard virtually nothing about since announcement but that are widely anticipated. Pure speculation.

Finally someone made them count to three. I'll let GLaDOS and snippy express my excitement.
![]() I just found out that I've received the CS:GO beta. How can this day get any better?

They waste an insane amount of money at every stage or panel production... Aperture is (again) not good at running a business. Sad face.

Also to everyone above, Half Life 3 is 99% NOT being shown at E3. Gabe Newell himself sent an email out to several fansites saying "We are not revealing Half Life 3, Portal 3, Left 4 Dead 3 or anything with a 3 in it at this E3. Seriously." |

Umm... yeah. You said that, and he died before she was activated.

I'm confused now. You said earlier that I was incorrect about him being back from the dead, I pointed out I said that in a joking way meaning "Cave's back for more DLC!" The other part meant their not pre-recorded messages.

Okay. The coming back from the dead thing was a joke. Whatever. I just said it would be in character for him to prerecord obscure things. Even if he was alive pre-GLaDOS, he still died before then too. I suppose the email on the blog (and whatever else) shows that he was alive enough to commentate live.

VALVe announced something. Not at E3, but in a magazine. Chet Faliszek said that the next Half Life will indeed be Half Life 3, not Episode 3. He also said it will not be announced through an ARG, or t-shirt, or at E3 but that VALVe would announce "our own way".
http://www.gamestm.co.uk/discuss/whe...ay-says-valve/ EDIT: Other news. VALVe might actually be working on a steam box after all. Portal creator Kim Swift said they were working on a console back in 2007. Portal 3 may have been accidentally announced. A european magazine said its next issue would be a VALVe special featuring content such as "the fate of Half Life 3" and "Inside the next Portal".
