Default I Respect People Who Play Tanks

You guys have to deal with entitled dipshits all day.

It's a thankless job I imagine.

From my experience tanks tend to act more entitled than the other two roles because they feel more essential than other members and therefore act less accountably.

I have a Bear Tank and my main can pally tank if required.

I appreciate my Healers more than anyone else, and a good DPS or two.

(When I'm DPSing, I appreciate it when the tank can hold aggro off me. )

I remember one day in Uldaman, I was leveling up my druid as a feral dps...

We ended up with a warrior "tank" who had no idea about tanking at all, lost aggro all the time and as I noticed, had no tank gear at all. (he was using a two hander or something, and there were some other problems with his gear, too)...

Anyway, quickly I realized that that tank was of no use and I used my bear form to help him out, especially by keeping mobs away from the healer.

What happened? A clueless rogue complained about me 'off-tanking' and how I should stay in cat....

Overall, I never dare to tank as I always believe I would mess it up on higher levels...

At this point, it's really not that bad. You show up, you tank shit, you don't act stupid and pull more than you can handle, you keep the instance running at a good pace, you get your loot, and you leave.

Half the time you don't even have to talk to anyone.

In the title and the first sentence I assumed you were talking about World of Tanks, aka "that other World of...".

To be honest I meet many (more than should be normal) entitled jackasses who are trying to tank... sort of the other way around really.

When I DPS or heal, I always meet entitled asses who are tanking, when I am tanking (DK tank, Warrior tank, Paladin tank, Druid tank....) I always get entitled DPS who don't get when I have to wait for heal mana, or setting up a pull, or who pull ahead of me when I'm tanking, or... well any number of things, usually it's just lots of bitching and posturing.

Nowadays, I tend to pull fast, especially on my DK tank who is 2nd DPS more often than not.... Yay blood spec!

Agreed, but sometimes you'll see an overzealous DPS pull more than should be allowed, and blame it on the tank. These people are more common than you may think. I experience it on my DPS character, healers, and when I tank once in a blue moon.

I definitely appreciate a good healer when I am not on that side of the fence.

Well, they are a lot more essential than DPS, so point in their favor.

I stopped tanking because I was going old school and none of the kids were used to heroics that lasted more than 10 minutes of avalanching from one mob pack/boss to the next. I enjoy tanking, a lot, but when I can't find a good group who does their research, prep, and stays alert I just end up with 2 straight hours of frustration as people waste their time complaining about boss mechanics that are designed to weed out the stupid and force them to learn.

For that same reason I refuse to heal without necessity, because I've seen way too many healers mauled to death by bad tanks/dps who didn't take care to control the fight. It was all just a dps race to them, and casualties were just people who didn't beat the meter.

So why do I want to be a Warlock tank then? Because I've got a nice fat'n'happy Voidwalker to act as a peeler when I can't move (boss with the usual frontal cone attack plus adds) and no one is protecting the healer.

The Alliance's three rules on faction conflict:
1) You can't win.
2) You can't break even.
3) You can't leave the game.

Tanking is raids is now probably the job with the least responsibility.

I don't tank randoms.

Though that's less to do with people and more to do with how boring/annoying it is to overgear as a tank in dungeons. You barely take any damage, are constantly rage starved (as a warrior), and you hit like a wet sponge. A wet sponge with a 1 in 4 chance of missing.

Really, though, being a strong tank can compensate for most stupidity in the group. There's a silent respect for good tanks, I think. Or at least tanks that stand freaking still so melee don't have to dance all over the place chasing mobs that constantly move 1 yard out of range.

As a DPS I usually pass on something that I want that a tank or healer needs on (even if it isn't for their spec I mean). It is my way of showing my appreciation.

I only started tanking because the guild forced it on me. Then I found out I really love it when it's not just single button spam like it was in WotLk.

Plus I can let people die when they get mouthy.

That is probably the second best part of being a tank. The best part of course being that my relatively vital place within the raid group allows me to be as mouthy as I want myself.

Tanks are usually dipshits that are too mouthy.

I know this because I am when I tank.

And they always seem to think they are better than me when I control 3/5 of the group (guildies) and can get a new version of him in 30s, thanks to LFD.
