The... naga who extensively used dragon turtles as siege weapons in the Third War now consider turtles bad luck? What?
To show how cool they are by taming the monstrous bad luck-inducing monsters!

Not only that, but we have the naga- reptilian race, with great hulking Myrmidons and sinister, cunning sea witches, lead by Aszhara, so powerful that even the great lords of the burning legion were impressed...

And they're afraid of a bunch of little turtles? Seriously? I know superstitions are meant to be daft, but that just goes beyond plain superstition and into silly. It's going to be harder to take the naga seriously if they're that afraid of turtles. It's like having the average army in the middle ages being terrified of rats or mice to the point of avoiding them. You just wouldn't take them seriously, and it'd be hard be afraid of somebody so terrified of something so small.

(I mean, yes rats were a major nuiscance, but you just got on with it, you didn't just cower from them... Right?)

Imagine this: you swim on your way under the sea, a little turtle swims nearby. It's so annoying. You kick the turtle and it swims away. Then, in a matter of time, A GIANT ENEMY TURTLE appears, and you run away like a shabby little snake.

Because there is always a bigger fish.

I don't understand how anyone can stomach swimming with whales. Those fuckers are terrifying. Stupid ocean.

Zooey Snake: "These reptiles posses hooked scales, allowing them to slither up Kun-Lai Summit's rocky sopes (sic) and steep cliffs."

Elfin Rabbit: "Their proximity to the magic of the elves has caused some of them unnatural long life. And in some elfin rabbits... stranger things."

Kirin Tor Familiar: "To prevent apprentices from secretly using the familiar to complete their chores, the archmagi placed the ritual required to summon these creatures across the pages of several spellbooks hidden throughout Dalaran."

Mule Deer: "It's called a mule because of its big ears. Also been known to transport black market bloodthistle over the border to Quel'Thalas."

Mechanopeep: "Used as a training mount for young gnomes, the Mechanopeep has none of the speed but all of the charm of its bigger brothers."

Phoenix Hatchling: "A child of phoenix god Al'ar, the hatchling takes flight immediately after birth."

Too bad they don't have one for the Gilnean Raven yet, but I would imagine it'll have a reference to Edgar Allen Poe.
You guys left me carving for more of this lore

I like to think those giant turtles started chomping on naga after they discovered that their little cousins were being enslaved by them and that's why the naga don't go near them anymore.

Dark Phoenix Hatchling: "Fire Hatchlings are born from the ashes of a phoenix. Dark hatchlings emerge from their shadows."

Great Horned Owl: "Night elf children are given an owl feather on their first birthday as a token of good luck"

Hawk Owl: "This dark-feathered bird of prey is often seen as a harbringer of doom amongst the druids of Teldrassil."

Hyacinth Macaw: "The jungle trolls train these birds to mimic calls for help in order to lure unsuspecting travelers into traps."

Also, the owl feather idea is a nice touch to the Kaldorei lore.
