Rogues have three specs, I am not sure why Demon hunters could not.

Certainly glaives as the only weapon would be rough, agreed. Though in some cases it would be the inverse of DKs and their runeforging. Have them use AGIL weapons (shared with Rogue and Shaman) and instead of enchanting them, they break down the weapons and forge a glaive (which would have its own tier graphics etc). i am starting to warm to this idea.

Blindfolds really dont matter, just have them appended as standard on all Demon Hunter characters, like a DK's blue eyes.

Seriously, though. Historical scenarios. Playing as Illidan in a raid against Tichondrias. Playing as Teron Gorefiend in a raid on Dalaran for the eye. Playing as Khadgar or Kurdran in a raid on Deathwing. Playing as Khadgar, Lothar, or Garona in a raid on Medivh.

For an MMO it is. A DH must have runic tattoos on his chest. What is Blizzard going to do ? Design a different tattoo for every tier ? It will get old pretty fast. You can't implement DH into the game, without doing some drastic changes to it's classic look.

Why do they have to change? Do Illidan's change? Again much like the custom skin tones and eyes of the DK, why not simply add it at the character design screen (tatoos).

Enh. Just make the Demon Hunter spec remove your pet summon and replace it with warglaives displaying as your equipped weapons instead. They're meant to be demonically empowered weapons anyways right? The reason Night Elves had a tiff about them? Swap your skin to gouged eyes, which isn't a particularly challenging change, and viola. The tattoos are not a Demon hunter look. The tattoos are Illidan's look. Several Demon Hunters appear without, and Illidan had them when he was a mage.
Granted, we have seen a demon hunter that ran around with a pack of felhounds before, but he seemed more the exception to the rule. Most of them don't show signs of utilizing members of the Burning Legion, and it kind of feels silly for a melee spec to make use of a pet.

They don't have runeblades. They have normal weapons.

Their horses aren't skeletal, their simply undead. Spectral perhaps, even, as they're taken from the spirit realm.

They have shining blue eyes, not hollow, black sockets like in WC3.

And their voices aren't dry and hollow, they're reverberating with bass, anger and glee.
