I wanted to bring this topic up again which I previously discussed over a year ago:

The idea is, what if the emerald dream predated Azeroth, well not the form that it is known today. But a realm of nightmare and darkness, where the sleeping gods dreams created the blueprint for the life on all of Azeroth.

The Ancients have a dark power at their core, as the Twilights hammer discovered when they created their own Ancients. They didn't just make evil monsters, they tapped into the elemental darkness that already existed deep in the Ancients cores (I still think Anzu on another note, was the first of these experiments.)

This realm was evil, but its creativity created the many variations of life we know. The Titans purged its darkness, put N'zoth into a coma, and then used the un-corrupted life forms born there to take their place in the world.

Well that is my thought chain and my theory anyway.
