They're called Bligletts. They came about after the great Mud War of '83, when hundreds of water type soldiers invaded the innocent land of digtopia with malice and hate in their hearts. Though the war was eventually won through securing a last minute alliance with the electric types, thousands of innocent diglett maidens were taken advantage of by the invaders. Years later their children wander the land, unwanted by the water types who call them "muddies" and consider them impure for the ground type in their blood, and unwelcome even in digtopia due to the painful memories their presence invokes. It's the great shame of the diglett community that they are treated so, but perhaps the wounds our people suffered will heal in time and we may be able to accept these poor creatures into the fold.

If anything I would have thought it was the Rock/Ground nation trying to get rid of them "impure" Ground only pokemon and once and for all be the top combination to have existed.

My heart has been moved to take up a ground type Pokemon... Space Dwarf Muradin will be back in a while though.

Nonsense, the Mineral Coalition (formed after the Grass Roots Insurgency of 1874) is a proudly multiethnic organization created to protect all citizens of its member nations, be they ground, rock, steel, or some combination of the above (those filthy half water quislings can go dry to death in the sun though). While there has been strife in the past, we all respect eachother for our various strengths and weaknesses. For instance, when the Aeronauts of Flyburg assaulted our fair nation the rock types were instrumental in defeating their attacks, with the ground/rock types acting as valuable contributors to defeat the enemy's electrical warfare division, but at the same time those same hybrids respect their earthen brethren enough to know that in times when the fighting barbarian tribes get uppity, or the water and grass imperialists attempt to impinge upon our sovereignty, the pure ground types are not as vulnerable to the foe's aggression. Both rock and steel types respect the Digtopian people, for reasons that I assure you are totally divorced from the Great Undermining of 1733 where the ground folk used their type advantage to crush the expressionistic ambitions of their more hardened cousins.

If we're talking about epic ground pokemon, you can't forget the original ground/dragon-

Your time will come, drippy ones, your empire is circling the drain of history, and the hate that grows forth from the slimy residue of your passing is being scoured from the lustrous surface of the world more and more each day.
