*facepalm*

It seems to me that they wanted to come up with a good excuse but couldn't find one...

Or the Lore part isn't finished yet and they want to show people first who the heck are deathknights... Like people confusing often the two generations of deathknights

Undead Icon (War3)

I have always suspected a terrible outcome...

A good outcome would be that these death knights are nothing but the Lich King´s group of Commando

What I mean is, if blizzard wants to pull off a good lore these Death Knights could willingly (or unwillingly) help him somehow.

So the Lich King knows that the armies of Azeroth are coming to him, he has always been a mastermind so he could infiltrate Death Knights into both sides and then work a malevolent and succesful counter attack even years after his "defeat".

But blizzard´s latest lore additions makes me think they will toss an idea such as these into the pit

They've already given the reason.

"Oh, I don't want to serve the Lich King anymore. He's bad!"

Maybe its not because the playable death knigths are good but they don't want to be pawns.

They HAVEN'T given a reason yet...

They've just said they're 'fighting fire with fire'.

What we don't know is why.

And you can say all that negative pre-emptive 'it'll be something stupid' shit until you're blue in the face. They still haven't said anything on the reasoning.

Very Warlocks ingame are nice people. One of the early warlock quest is killing of a Noble.

And after that? They're as good as paladins.

The last update we discussed on this is that all races would be available to be a Death Knight. This is still up the air though and could change, but we'll have to wait and see.

"My first character is a brother to my alt Upsylon (BElf pally), and distant cousin to Omacron (NElf druid), my two main RP characters. Most of Oma/Ups' family are incredibly gifted in scientific fields, but the tentitavely named Epselon was not. Instead, he was a swordsman, a fencer, and your archetypical High Elven ladies man and narcissist. He joined up with the farstriders to pick up chicks, since it's not like they'd ever have to DO anything, right? They had runestones!
Erm... yeah. Undead came, ripped Quel'Thalas a new one, but realized Epselon's combat skills. They took him and raised him as a death knight, but in the carnage, his visage had been twisted and mauled (and I'd use a forsaken model for this character to reflect that). He was horrified to hear this... plus, up in Northrend, you had like, rotting chicks, spider chicks or the occasional fat walrus chick. So... he pussied out and fled, like a little nancy boy, and had been in hiding from the scourge ever since."

"He's a Draenei (from Exodar) who's obsessed with Man'Ari, kind of like an annoying goth kid, who's trying to figure out a way to become one, and thinks he can do so by hanging out with the OTHER goth kids (Arthas) and amassing enough shadow magic to encite a transformation. His entire life has been about being 'dark' and 'spooky' and failing horribly, he'd like nothing more than to stand outside a hot topic with Arthas and Lady Blameaux smoking".

Draenei makes sense though. There are Draenei necromancers in Auchindoun afterall.

Forgiven Man'ari Eredar Wrathguard? With their own models and animations? Brought by demon slavemasters and chained to their armors or something along those lines. (I can dream...).

Is it just me or has anyone else realized that Blizz can't seem to invent or introduce new lore without retconning old stuff that didn't need to be touched?

I'm rolling a Night Elf Death Knight. I've always wanted to play a Nelf warlock after seeing Athrikus Narassin. This is close enough.

NE Warlocks make so much sense it's not funny... makes more pre-WoW lore sense than orcish warlocks (demon hunters, remember?). The NE Warlocks could've had the fight-fire-with-fire mentality even more than the other warlocks. Would've been interesting.

DK races...?

Human
Dwarf (There is a dwarf DK in Naxxrammas)
Draenei (They have paladins, so they could be DK)
Blood elf

Perhaps Undead too... But I'm sure all the races who could be Paladin could be DK too.

Technically, any race could be any class if someone teaches them.

Or, even though we already have every reason to want to fight him? Arthas has GONE CRAZY! Must be from lack of beer and TV in Northrend.

Actually, that might be a working hypothesis for most of the "X goes crazy. U kill for lootz now kk?" scenarios.

No beer and no TV make future raid boss go crazy.

Why would the death knight have a reason to fight him when he basically gives them eternal life, makes them generals, lets them keep their free will, and live like kings? that's the part to ME that don't make sense.

I feel it would be interesting if Deathknights were only available to retribution paladins.

Think of it this way. They keep eternal life,an undead army(its part of the talent tree) when they leave. They can easily use these resources to do evil on their own. Imagine a Death knight getting tired to taking orders from Arthas who somehow manages to break off from him to make his evil empire. Using his evil powers, the death knight would attempt to conquer Gilneas and Silverpine.

Death knights like Illifar have broken off from the Scourge to do their own evil before wrath.
