Default Free to Play possibility for WoW

World of warcraft is the giant of all MMORPGs you know your good when

you can still charge your players 15$ a month to play. The design of paying

a monthly fee is long out of date and has been replaced with premium

accounts of large amounts of micro transactions. Now i hate not being able

to play a full game and love all the mounts , pets and customization I get. A

idea to let the player be able to play the newest content and have many

comedic choices without a monthly fee should happen. The reason this wont

happen is mainly one would lose a large potion of their revenue if their were

to be no more pay to play. This idea is to get rid of the monthly fee and

replace it with a modest fee to large content raid and dungeon patches. for

example in cataclysm you would buy the Cata xpac and then pay your

monthly fee until you were bored. Well lets take out that fee and replace it

with 20$ to participate in the firelands raid. If a player did not wish to run

firelands and get better gear and new content then they could still play the

xpac they already purchased. same goes for the next patch that arrives

months later the demon soul raid and 5 man dungeons can be bought for a

reasonable fee to let you que for and enter those instances. This will keep

the Devs on their toes because if they don't put out quality content then

nobody will want to buy it. This version of Wow Will be more easy on the

money pocket and will open the door to new players who no longer fear the

monthly subscription or premium accounts of other games.

It will only happen when they have a huge dip that doesn't seem to end.

Otherwise they would only do it if they felt it would gain them increased profit which would be hard to do in a F2P model.

Seriously, LESS SPACES!

And to answer your post, it won't happen anytime soon. With 9 million active subscribers (a number which will peak considerably after MoP hits the shelves) a free to play model is simply put not worth it. In my opinion it is not desirable either, as it would fill the game with more pubescent teens, leading to a diminished play experience. I would also like to keep the patches as they are, keeping the developers on their toes, pushing for content is not exactly the Blizzard way (remember they like to take their time to get it RIGHT, which has worked great so far). It is thus neither desirably for Blizzard, or for us as players of the game to have a free to play model, over a monthly subscription.

Well, i have to say that this idea will not

happen for another couple of yers because

Blizzard is still making lots of $$$. Maybe

in the future they could have a free to play

model without cosmetic choices like cool

mounts transmog armor and the jazz.

Basically. Especially if they're making another pay based MMORPG. I'm no expert but as I see it, in order to keep the quality standard we had MoP and 2 or 3 xpacks more. Two or one before Titan, one after Titan, a period of ome-two years of falling subscriptions after the last xpack ends and then the eventual F2P format.
