Or it was just one of the last battles of the war. Think of it this way. One of the aggressors of the third war was the Legion/Scourge force that was defeated at Hyjal, like the European front against Germany in WWII. But the Alliance and Night Elves continued fighting with the Horde in Kalimdor much like the war with the Japanese in the pacific theater continued for a few years.

Second War, mostly for the same reasons Omacron posited and that it was a lot like the First War but had more races involved. (Dwarves, Gnomes, High Elves, Ogres, Goblins, Trolls, etc. etc.)

The Third War for sure.

War of Spider should be cool until they told us the Lich King won only because the facless ones showed up.

Well yeah, but the Alliance and Horde and Sentinels were all allies, for that single battle or so.

I'd consider the Founding of Durotar to be something like a "Theramore Crisis", an isolated set of actions that almost resulted in open war but didn't.

Thank goodness this turned out to be in the Warcraft Lore Discussion board because otherwise I thought this thread was going to be in pretty bad taste.

On topic: Second War with Third as close second, because Blood Elves were cool back then

It's similar to Chineese civil war just after WW2 - even though the fighting continued, it's not part of WW2, because the primary enemies of the grand conflict, the Axis powers, were no more.

Likewise, Third War is war leading to summoning and then defeat of the Legion. Fighting continued in many parts of the world, but it was no longer the Third War with Archimonde's death. In many ways Daelin's attack was more of a continuation of Second War, rather than part of the Third one, just as war in Northrend in WotLK was a continuation of the Third War rather than Outland / Sunwell crysis.
