I'm still waiting for the explanation of what makes beating people for peacefully casting nonbinding ballots acceptable.

Not trying to add fuel to the fire. Just trying to make you guys realize you are hypocrites if you defend democracy yet root for Spain in this. Theses guys are the same as Franco's and at this point, Rajoy is no better than a dictator.

Looks like we've got a Saudi-backed Yemen fighting Iran and an Iran-backed Lebanon fighting Saudi Arabia. Middle Eastern proxy wars are now a thing.

I say we use that civil asset forfeiture which is so common now and that "Shock 'em Straight" Sessions is such a big fan of. Seize all that money and use it to pay off a good chunk of the national debt.

In other news, NATO is going to start sending more troops to Afghanistan.

The EU has signed a deal to pool their military R&D resources to reduce dependance on the US. By extension, of course, this will reduce the US's diplomatic and economic influence around the world.

Hey, Statesians, that Kathleen Hartnett White-lady, is she for real? Because if she is, she's fucking scary dumb and willfully ignorant.

To be fair, water does act kind of weird in certain temperature ranges (0 to 4 C, IIRC). There are other things to be concerned with.

Would you prefer √Čtatsuniens?

But on that link: US science plz no.

Now for the first part of the video linked in that article. Okay, sure, I'll buy that a layman might not know how much the oceans have warmed in relation to the atmosphere, and I'll offer the half-assed explanation that she gave what she thought was a politically safe answer by saying "Well there's disagreement in the scientific community", and just didn't know when to back down from that statement when called out on it.

THAT SAID:

Water expands when it gets warm isn't something that requires more than an elementary school level's worth of chemistry education, so that's just friggin' depressing.

Water also contracts as it warms (from 0C to 4C).

In other news, refugees are being sold as slaves at bargain prices.

"The Spanish Government of Cordoba and Lucena authorized an official homage to the dictator Francisco Franco."

15 assholes were not prevented to manifest peacefully while people were looking for corpses of people killed during Franco's dictatorship.

Well, it's more the fact that the local government authorized it. There are local mayors openly francoist with the flag in their office. The crimes of the francoist regime were never investigated because the guys ruling the country were still in power when democracy started. The dictator's party is a legal political party nowadays.

Yesterday far right people who assaulted a catalan cultural event in 2013 were permitted to not enter prison because "they had children to care for".
On the other hand there's peaceful people in prison right now because "they cheered and instigated violence" on Barcelona when there are countless videos and the 24h news feed of that day online where anyone can see that those people were trying to defuse the situation. They have a family to care for too.

This country has no solution. It's an eternal cycle of hatred by one side and the other.
