Before I die, I want to see real aliens. That is one of my biggest wishes.

It also depends what you mean by life. If you mean microbes, then I definitely think we'll find those in our own solar system.
If you mean larger multicellular life or intelligent life, then I don't think we'll find any here. And just based on the sheer number of stars out there, most of which have planets around them, the chances of there not being other life out there I think are rather slim. The chances of us finding it and encountering it though are rather high even if we figure out how to travel faster than light. In my opinion. It should also be noted that we're looking for habitable places to find other larger lifeforms, we're looking for lifeforms like us. There could be other kinds of lifeforms out there as well that we don't know how to find because we've never seen it. Our planet is the only basis we have to know how life could form. |

Which is why Xenobiology > Astrobiology Anyway some time ago I was really afraid that advanced aliens will come to Earth and kill us all, in fact I was confused why they haven't come already. But then I played Spore, and I realized that the odds are that the Earth and us on it are incredibly uninteresting to aliens. The game taught me that the resources our planet has are probably so plentiful across the universe and that the aliens technology is so potent that they would rather take a lifeless planet and teramorph it then bother with the pesky job of exterminating us and taking our stuff. It showed me how Earth is a dime a dozen planet who no one wants, the universe is simply so huge and we are simply so irrelevant. That was big weight off my shoulders let me tell you. Of course that is all under the assumption that Earth is a planet with low quality resources, if not then the high-powered laser extermination is still coming ![]()

Step 3. seems somewhat extraneous.

As Hagar gnashes his teeth in inner conflict and almost drowns in snotty, fearful tears, his master Dumbledore tells him to wait in the frickin' car if he has to. And the baby is left, the baby with the most telling of scars, the baby that is the seed of power, the baby that is the inheritor of the horrible, hoary hammer of the gods, Harry, the wizard who was destined to vanquish all evil, and, if he so wish, bring it back again!
