Elunes light is not her own, but a reflection of An'she.
Real life physics does not explain supernatural power. 'Elune's Light' is a lot more than just 'magical moonlight'.

Didn't I read something here long ago about a Q+A with Metzen where he basically said Elune was just a conduit for the Light? That was a bit upsetting.

I know it's non-canon/ RPG fluff, but when I read Elune in Shadows & Light she was the one true God in Warcraft, and more powerful than the titans (based on level/ hit dice, anyway) by a substantial margin (I think something like 80th level, to Aman'Thul's 40, or whatever). Her limited physical contact with the world (she made Malorne, Boomkin and potentially the Kaldorei, but that's it) sort of reinforced the idea that she was a proper God, not a superpower like the Titans (who are running around touching damned near -everything- with their sticky jamfingers).

I guess by virtue of being a god, there's always going to be some mysticism to her, but I really do think there should be more development in the lore of faiths of Warcraft, though perhaps not the Light since that's brought up all the time.

I wish I could remember. I think medievaldragon had been asking the cdevs some questions directly about the nature of the Light, Shadow, good and evil, etc. It was some thread based on that sort of stuff anyway. I'll see if it's lying around.

Hot damn, that took a while.

It wasn't who I thought, but from what I briefly glanced of the thread, he was asking Adam Lloyd (who wrote the RPG stuff?) who had heard this from Metzen. Take it as you will.

Does not really say that Elune is a conduit for the Light. But then again I believe it is the act of belief in itself which manifests the light and vice versa with the shadow.
