Default Expansion Concept: The Hand of Zul

It's time for another of my expansion ideas! I've mentioned this one in several other threads, but now that two parts of it are posted to Blizzplanet its time I felt to make a thread for it.

Here's the plot and feature overview.

And the zone overview.

Here are the maps I've made for it:

The Continent of Zandalar:

And a close up of where the Zandalari troll and high elf starting zones are located:

The name "Rotfield" seems out of place.

Really, really like that you remembered Aratas from Bloodsworn. Centaur have been sorely neglected.

I wanted a non-troll-y sounding zone name, though it does seem a bit off now that you mention it. I'd previously considered other names like Deathfield or The Deadlands, but those didn't sound right either.

Just call it the Dead Steppe or something like that, imo.

I really like the concept, though. Of everything. I'd enjoy this expansion.

Could really go for a nice troll-themed expac. Get away from the familiarity of pretty elven cities or savage orc villages. Toss us into some crazy Aztec fantasy filled with blood and gold.

Hmm, "Dead Steppe" I like that a lot, actually.

Could always use more Mayincatec

Especially armored bats...

What classes are High Elves and Zandalari going to be able to play as?

I'd cross DK off the High Elf list. There are totally reasons for there to be High Elf DKs, but it presents a lot of problems.

1) If you have DK be a class that's in the High Elf starting experience, it breaks continuity with the Ebon Blade questline that's key to the player Death Knight fantasy.

2) If you instead add High Elf to the Ebon Blade starting experience, then it doesn't feel quite right to do that for only one race and not the other, if two races are being introduced in the expansion.

I think the better option would be to just handwave quel'dorei DKs entirely.

I also question High Elf warlocks to a certain extent, though it might be easier to explain.

Wouldn't High Elf Warlocks just be hypocrisy incarnate?

You could probably get more leeway with them being Druids instead.

I based the list of high elf classes (besides monk and dk, and good point about DKs, I'll change that for the official post) off the class trainers in the Silver Enclave. Specifically I put warlocks on it because of this guy.

I guess it could be argued he's an outlier, but it would be weird for high elves not to have warlocks when there's a high elf warlock class trainer.

To be fair, I'm pretty sure one of the quest-givers we had during Argent Crusade questing in Northrend was a goblin paladin, and yet we haven't got goblin paladins as a PC combination.

I'll concede that a high elf warlock can conceivably exist, but I really question (along the same lines as what Grimtale said) that you'd be able to get away with a non-trivial number of high elf warlocks. It just seems incredibly dissonant with everything about the Silver Covenant's problem with the blood elves. (Hell, even having the one high elf warlock feels incredibly dissonant. I blame quest designers.)

Goodness no. I've been having Troll Fatigue since The Gods of Zul'Aman.
