Default The forum

It is dead.

So what's everyone been up to that's keeping them so busy? I've been planting my garden. Cabbage, spinach, tomatoes, squash, cucumber, peppers (bell and chili), and strawberries are down so far.

I already asked about this.

The answer is that its not that everyone is so busy, its just so little blizzard content to talk about at the moment.

Well, today my son walks into the house and announces, "There's a snake in the yard."

So, I grab the .357 (I keep varmit loads in it) and walk out to the front yard, and, sure enough, there's a 4 foot diamondback rattler coiled amongst the rock and sand. He blends in so well it's a miracle my 7 year old saw it before stepping on it.

I shot it twice (for good measure - it would have been impossible to miss at the distance), and then took its head off with a shovel.

Pictures were taken. Kids got to touch a nearly-live snake that kept twitching (which freaked them out). Bolvar debated whether or not he should bother skinning it, and decided he'd better spend the rest of his afternoon finishing the website he'd promised his sister.

(Cool story, bro.)

Headless twitching rattler makes child dance like MC Hammer.

It's funny because he's wearing an Arizona Diamondbacks t-shirt.

Doing what I always do on the weekends really...
1. Wake up and eat a bowl of Special K cereal with a muffin
2. Exercise for 30 to 45 minutes
3. Take muh shower
4. Talk bullshit with the neighbor for about an hour
5. Work on my nfl mock drafts
6. Cook up some chicken and make a BLT with horse raddish (don't hate)
7. Watch the nhl playoffs (gooo Flyers)
8. Read the SoL and New York Giants forums
9. Talk on the phone
10. Go to sleep
11. Wake up to take a piss and make a post.

Actually I shall take this moment to ask if anyone here has experience in regards to interacting with Chaldeans? What would one expect when being invited over to a house and what kind of habits to be on the look out for? I already know they hate to be called Arabs and they are actually Catholic but other than an Americanized lady friend, I have no fucking clue what to expect. I need Intel!

Considering my roommates enjoy dining at Taco Hell during the night hours, it's simply payback in my view.

Writing what I hope to be my break-out stand-up routine and imagining how awesome it's gonna be when I tell my mom she has to live in a shitty retirement home because she failed to abort me when she had the chance.

How would you being aborted keep her out of the shitty retirement home?

Because I'm gonna be the one that makes sure she goes to the worst one I can find. If sh'd have just had my brains sucked out when I was a wee baby, she'd probably be avoiding that eventuality. However, my mother is only 46, so she's got a bit before she'll have to worry.

Little history: my mom once called me up just to say that when she was pregnant with me, she really wanted an abortion but couldn't afford one. She went to my aunt and uncle for a loan, but they wouldn't give her any money, so my mom was forced to have me. I come from great stock.

I've been pretending to write my BA diploma thesis while modding Europa Universalis III. Hard stuff, I tell ya.

What are you getting a BA in, and what is your thesis on?

English, as much as it would surprise some people who knew me when I started posting here. It's... well, in short, about mythological imagery in Shakespeare. Veeeery interesting.

Taxes, moving, 40+ hour road trip without internet, and reading Game of Thrones to prep for the HBO version. Also what Noz said, little new content and most of our previous questions and speculations have been answered.

Bolvar, teach your kids how to skin, roast, and then properly devour that thing. This world needs more badasses and less twats fainting at the notion of cleaning an animal.

Been volunteering to do some Archaeology digging up a Roman site that had not been done before because the Farmer didnt let them plus i decided to randomly learn Runic/Futhark.

I have also volunteered to go to Japan and aid in the repair of the Tsuname but only a certain amount actually make the cut get some training and get to go.

Plus i am learning Japanese ! and rejoined WoW lol.

Oh and i actually finally got a job which suprised even myself with the current state of everything over here.

Yeah, me and my girlfriend briefly entertained the notion of volunteering in Japan, but let's face it: Japan isn't Haiti. They have professionals for earthquake response, they don't need some longhaired college students like yours truly to go there and sift through rubble and pass out bottled water. They've got robots for that shit.

Knowing Japanese, they probably have sex androids to satisfy every goddamn fetish they have but no one really thought of putting all that hi-tech to use in earthquake aftermaths.

What's funny is my son actually DID want to eat it. There's a restaurant in Phoenix called Rustler's Rooste that serves fried rattlesnake, and he's had it before. The notion of eating a venomous viper appeals to him. I probably should have gone ahead and skinned it for him.

My daughter, on the other hand, was a tad freaked out at the post-mortem twitching. Her suggestion was "CHOP IT UP INTO LITTLE BITS, DAD!"

(edit - in my son's defense, the only reason he looks freaked out in the photo I posted is because my wife asked him to grab the snake for the photo... when he did, it recoiled, and my wife yelled "RAAAHH!" really loud, which was sort of mean... but hilarious... he actually wasn't scared of the thing).
