Computer and Video Games (CVG) has anonymous sources backing that Blizzard will announce Starcraft MMO at Korea on May 19th. It is still a rumor until Blizzard makes the official announcement. T-minus 14 days, and ticking! Read the full article.
CVG: "Well placed US sources have revealed to us that the StarCraft MMO will be unveiled at an upcoming Blizzard event on May 19 in South Korea - the epicentre of the sci-fi RTS series' rabid fandom." BAM. HEADSHOT. |

Well Starcraft fans, GL & HF.
WoW is enough of a leech on my life in many different ways as it is already.

But a magazine said so! And you always have to trust magazine's after all why would they print lies? I mean all gaming magazine's do play through the whole game ya know, and not just the opening 10 hours. FFXII's flawless scores are totally based on the epicness of the whole game not that first 10 hours where it's at it's best before it becomes boring horseshit!

This is still 100% rumor.
Another magazine just a week ago said it was a RTS, and even gave details into the races and new classes. This one this week says it is a MMO, and didn't even have the decency to make up fake details. We will not find out what it really is till it is announced, and considering Korea is the location of the announcement, then my guess is it will be an RTS. MMOs are also huge in Korea, but do not have the following the StarCraft RTS has... |

Starcraft MMORPG -> I get very, very, very angry.
Starcraft RTS -> I congratulate Starcraft Fans and consider buying it. Warcraft RTS -> I pass out in happiness. Warcraft Single-Player RPG -> Same as above. Diablo MMO -> I cry. Diablo RTS -> WTF? Diablo Single-Player RPG -> I'd kiss any Blizzard Employee's feet if asked.

True, but I don't want another Diablo. Diablo is over, it had a great meaningful ending that any sequel by way of merely existing would take away from.
That, and the core team of its inception aren't there anymore. We'd probably get more Diablo from Hellgate: London than a Diablo 3. |

I'd love a proper Warcraft RPG... singleplayer, properly sized world with all the locations, most races are playable, able to choose any faction to join, realistic AI, realistic fighting, not much of a large level scale for max realism.
Which will never happen and is asking for way too much. That however, is my dream. I'd roll a High Elven Ranger, join the Scarlet Crusade with whatever it takes. Another Diablo game I wouldn't particularly be interested in, I only ever played Diablo 1 which was good fun but that's it. Starcraft was great, and as long as it aint another MMO I don't mind what comes next as long as it plays on PC.

Go freaking play 2.
The best RPG ever if you don't count Final Fantasies.

I miss traditional RPGs, even Action RPGs. I'd kill for a character driven WarCraft game. I've even designed a few myself. WarCraft needs new heroes and characters that aren't dragons or only found in books. Edit: and it's very feasbile that the Blizzard Console team could be making a WarCraft PS3/360 game. But my bet is that they are making a new IP, a spokesperson said something to that effect, I do believe. |

I've read all the novels, and I find them tedious and generally have little if anything to do with the Diablo story.
We've been over this all before. |

Blizzard already said that they would like to do more Diablo games, i don´t think they ever intended to finish the storyline with LoD, especially considering the actual purpose of the Worldstone that was revealed in the latest Diablo novel.

Also, I wouldn't want it to be MMO, like I had said in the same post, singleplayer. Oblivion style, but without some of Oblivion's more frustrating points.

I still say the StarCraft universe is not developed enough for a MMORPG. I mean, what do they have? One game, one expansion, one canceled game (Ghost), and like 7 books - most of which are just friggin' novelizations of the first game, expansion, or Ghost (or else absolutely terrible). That's just not enough. 90% of the game world would be completely new content. You lose that "Oh look! It's Thrall! I remember him from WarCraft 3!" type of appeal since you've only got like maybe 10 recognizable characters and maybe 4 or 5 planets.
Also, how do you set this up in terms of playable races? You can be a terran, protoss or zerg... and? Is that it? StarCraft doesn't have a bazillion races like WarCraft does. I mean, *maybe* Blizzard would want to keep it simple, but I don't know, it just doesn't seem ready. Aside from that, people have been bitching for a StarCraft RTS for ages. Considering when this project probably began, Blizzard most likely wouldn't have known at the time how successful WoW would be. It would have been a very risky move to make ANOTHER MMORPG, especially while your first one is still running strong. In any case, isn't this being announced at a RTS competition? It just doesn't seem to make sense to me that they would pick this event to announce a MMORPG, considering 100% of the people there are going to be RTS fans (and it's Korea, so 100% of the people will likely be StarCraft fans too ). I call BS on CVG.Edit: of course, don't get me wrong. I like the *idea* of a SC MMORPG.. I just don't think now is the right time for it.
