Default Patch 4.3 Details

Information is now surfacing on the upcoming World of WarCraft patch. Curll has posted a nice summary/translation of Gamebase.com.tw's coverage in our forums. Details can also be found on Joystiq and MMO Champion.

Of great interest are the new 5-mans which see both a trip to the dark, Deathwing-ruled future, and a trip back to the War of the Ancients to recover the Demon Soul for Thrall to use against him in the final battle.

There are also some interesting details about the new legendaries, a pair of Rogue daggers which will center around the purified Black Dragon egg questline in the Badlands. The Black Dragon Prince who hatches from the eggs is pure of corruption, but not necessarily friendly, and seeks the aide of Rogues who he sees as also being slightly shady.

There are more details at the links provided, as well as some nice screenshots, so check them out.

Update: Blizzard has released official previews of the three 5-man dungeons and the raid here:
Lot of great lore info and screenshots there, as well as details on the boss encounters in each dungeon.

Anyway, as regards getting the Demon Soul from the past, that strikes me as being rather silly. It is the same with Akama's questline to get Rage Winterchill's phylactery. Relics from the past shouldn't be able to be transported to the future. It creates cluster-fooks and plot loopholes. (And to my comrades: It would be different if they could learn something from the future but not transport the item back, of course.)

Still, I hope they include Hakkar the Houndmaster. I wonder what he looks like.

Yeah, that's one thing I don't get, but if Nozdormu sends it back to the past to prevent any huge changes in the timestream, it could work...

Strikes me as very strange to bring the Demon Soul to the present. Looks like Nozdormu is next on the dragon-hit-list.

They won't, if I'm not wrong it happens during the finale of the third book, while Hakkar was killed in the first.

The boss-fight sounds fairly sexy, and makes a lot more sense than secret super-weapons or magically empowered players. Just plain old using the lore to its fullest.

Count me among the skeptics of this whole "go steal a relic from the past" notion.

I'm not sure how that works without creating problems. I'm contemplating re-reading the War of the Ancients trilogy just to get back up to speed on the whole matter.

Three volumes of Knaak... *shudder*

I actually enjoyed the War of the Ancients trilogy.

Anyway, after seeing more and more details about all the new instances, I think they're all rather awesome actually. I'm still sceptical about being able to take the Demon Soul out of its timeline, but the way these new 4.3 instances are being handled, especially the 'End Time' visit, well.

I think Blizzard has really done a great job this round and I am not easily impressed.

The inclusion of Peroth'arn as an instance boss shows that they're getting ideas from the fan base, because that guy was hellishly obscure and I am pretty sure they only included him because they got the idea from Wowpedia's War of the Ancients instance page. Which is great.

Well, if Blizzard is indeed reading the fan forums, they might got the idea for the 3 dungeons from SoL after all.

Remember the Infinite Dragonflight discussion some months ago and that some kind of "Chrono Trigger" Handling with it would be great. And now we are getting new CoT dungeons. (and Endtime really reminds me of the destroyed world of the 2300 era in chrono Trigger.)

I agree, in the thread for the last Thrall book, a lot of us were doubting that Blizzard would ever do any cool time traveling or parallel realities in-game like they do in the book. I'm hoping the instances have lots of cool easter eggs like in past CoT dungeons.
