Anyway, I'm interested in seeing what other iconic weapons they do. I like that the deviated away from swords. I'd like to see them do some of the games Legendaries.

So is Doomhammer actually a one or two handed weapon? I know they consistently show Thrall using it with one, but the most well known old B&W artworks of Orgrim showed him using both hands.

Current model, its modern incarnation has deviated greatly since the days when it was a spikey ass knife hammer from the Warcraft 2 manual. It's now a onehanded hammer.

Quote:
“Through blood the weapon shall pass, as surely as night begets day,
Until the elements cry unheard, and pride turns to unbridled rage.
The last of the line shall deliver salvation and doom upon his kind.
Honor will be undone and all will be lost, before it is found again.
A stranger will raise the hammer high, and with it justice shall reign.”

All of the Doomhammer bloodline’s successors bore this ominous prophecy on their great shoulders, divined long ago by the Blackrock clan’s elder shaman. Yet for generations, these tidings of doom went unfulfilled. The legendary Doomhammer weapon became a standard of pride and honor, its immense black stone as indomitable as the orcs’ fierce spirit.

When the heirloom passed to Orgrim Doomhammer and the mighty orcish Horde rose to power, the weapon met no equal in battle. Innumerable foes suffered its wrath, the warhammer even shattering Sir Anduin Lothar’s fabled rune-etched blade of Stormwind before crushing the human’s skull.

Only too late did Orgrim realize that he was the harbinger of doom prophesied by his clan’s ancestral shaman. Although he had slain the power-hungry Horde warchief Blackhand and many of the depraved warlocks who had destroyed the orcs’ culture, Orgrim’s people were ultimately defeated, and most of them were rounded up in human internment camps to live out their days in shame and lethargy.

The prophecy, however, had not yet run its course. So it was that Orgrim, mortally wounded while fighting to free his people from imprisonment, bestowed the Doomhammer on one who was not of his clan or bloodline: Thrall. Wielding the hammer as a symbol of hope, the young orc liberated his race and rekindled the pride and heritage that the orcs had abandoned as the bloodthirsty Horde.

The image of a wolf was later added onto the Doomhammer to denote Thrall’s hereditary ties to the Frostwolf clan, but little else has changed about the weapon. Through war and peace, the hammer has remained at Thrall’s side, an embodiment of his race’s strength as it was in ancient times, and a symbol of doom to the enemies who would dare threaten the orcs’ freedom and honor.
Oh wow, they included lore. Don't think they ever went into detail of the prophecy other than it existed or how the wolf image got on it before.

You can read the whole prophecy in Rise of the Horde.

$284.95 is actually pretty reasonable... but then I think about shipping a massive 18 pound hunk of metal and ye gods... about $149.25 for economy shipping to up here. Yeah, hard to justify that cost, as cool as that hammer would be to have kicking around. I'd have loved a Frostmourne as well.

I always loved weapon replicas, and this one is juicy a hell. It's once again tough for me; The cost of the weapon itself is bigger than half of average monthly payment in my country. And there're always costs of delivery PLUS additional duty fee when you buy something more expensive than 200$.

I might force myself to starve for two months, even if... you know... Winter is coming.

Least you will have a hammer to build a hut and hunt wolves with.

I'm still pissy that there's no longer a knife blade on top of the doomhammer.

What I dislike is the fact that is just that, a replica.

It is not meant for actual combat. Which sucks.

Having some jackass kill his class mates with a doomhammer is some pretty bad publicity. Not that smaching some dudes head in with that hammer isn't already possible, it just means the hammers top might break after your 5th crushed skull. That being said, its a decorative fantasy hammer, of course it's not "combat ready". If your serious about owning weapons you don't buy goofy fantasy stuff.

Obviously I find the goofy fantasy stuff cool, and I want them to be 100% lethal because that is how I like my weapons.
