Default Patch 5.4 Interview - Submit questions for Cory Stockton

Going to interview Cory Stockton (Mumper) about Patch 5.4. He works on everything WoW but classes/systems (that's Ghostcrawler's job).

So questions should span:
  • Quests (including Legendary Wrathion quests)
  • Timeless Isle content
  • Siege of Orgrimmar raid
  • Pet Battles
  • Flexible Raiding
  • Connected Realms
  • Proving Grounds
  • Redesigned Arena System
  • Battlegrounds
  • Dungeon challenge modes
  • Professions
  • Items

If it helps, read the Patch 5.4 patch notes. Skip the classes. Some non-classes changes at the bottom of the patch notes.

We saw two new dog models added to the PTR, a Corgi and a Saint Bernard, why were these dogs not added as battle pets in 5.4?

Are Vereesa and Aethas going to get new models?

What was the reasoning behind making a fairly large amount of Timeless Isle content rather than fleshing out the peak of the expansion: the Siege of Orgrimmar?

In Siege of Orgrimmar, instead of their usual models, they got models that scream "placeholder". Aethas got a starter mage-like robes, Vereesa got an ugly brown outfit with green cape. Some people are speculating that they are going to get new models.

What made you guys decide to use two Orc shaman trainers as bosses instead of coming up with a new character?

Have you considered using existing npcs like trainers in future content?

I've got LOTS of questions related to these current topics! Like, uh...

What is the Timeless Isle? Is it related to Medivh and the hourglass concept?

Can we kill Anduin somehow?

Any chance pet battle training can be cheaper, so that free accounts can acquire enough gold?

Does Varian will have to face some consequences because of his choice to leave Orgrimmar after the Siege ?

Does the Alliance will truly be a unified juggernaut after MoP, or more of a fracturing faction, between radicals (such as Roger, for instance) and more peaceful NPCs (such as Johanna Blueheart) ?

Regarding the Battleground, how about a "Battle on the High Seas" kind of battleground. Would it be too complicated to do with all that ship sinkin' and map reducin' or can we hope for one?

It seems Alliance developpement with the Siege of Orgrimmar has been lacking. Do e know why Genn and Velen aren't there? And what about Taylor too? Shouldn't he have been there to fight Nazgrim, his counterpart, instead of Gamon?

Will we see a follow-up to the "Who Betrayed the Sunreavers" plot in 5.4?

Any chances of seeing older dungeons challenge modes and more rewards for doing them? I just don't see the point right now.

Any chance we'll be able to enter scenarios without having to queue for them? Getting the achievements should be hard, if you've exceeded the level at which you can queue for them.

Is Flex Raiding targeted more towards those attempting to make the jump from LFR into something a bit more organised or even normal or more towards old, former raiders who no longer have the time to keep pace with a raid group.

In essence; are the essentials do's and dont's of raiding in a group assumed for Flex mode?

* Will Vsrian remain High King? Will you guys rename the position in order to not give the impression that he is a Despotic Autocrat?

* What is the logic behind Varian's choosing a New Warchief, and why do the Horde Rebels seem to rally around this Warchief

Do you have plans for more catchup profession plans, such as blacksmithing and cooking? And why did you choose not to implement epic gems

I don't like that subjects are limited to things they want to talk about. The community would prefer asking what's actually on their minds.

Hi Sarahmoo, I just wish to clear up something. This is only to be informative of how I was approached about the interview.

There will be other interviews at other fansites with Cory, and also with other developers.

I was not given "subjects" on what to talk about. I was only told I will interview Cory Stockton. I simply pointed out in the original post above some of the responsibilities he is in charge of as a Lead Content Designer of World of Warcraft.

He oversees the development and design of all the world, dungeon, city and pvp assets for World of Warcraft.

Thus, it wouldn't make much sense to ask about things that do not pertain to his field of responsibilities -- such as class balance and that sort of thing.

By providing you some of his responsibilities, I make sure the 20 minutes are not spent on questions where he is 100% likely to respond he isn't able to respond because that's someone else's work field.

If someone asks about cinematics, this is obviously a question for VP of Cinematics Nick Carpenter.

If someone asks about class balance, this is a question for Lead System Designer: Greg "Ghostcrawler" Street.

This will be a 20-minute one-on-one live interview over Skype with Cory Stockton. I thought that writing down some of his responsibilities would help SOL members formulate questions of interest pertaining to his field of work.

On top of this, why do we see so little of actual fighting inside Orgrimmar in a patch dedicated to the Siege of Orgrimmar?

Will Siege of Orgrimmar LFR show things happening between the LFR parts, Example being the Throne of thunder cinematic between Council and Tortos?

Why was the decision made to only make one unique orc model (Garrosh). We got Sha hulked Malkorok for a cool orc face, but in ToT for example all the trolls had unique models. Is it due to armor covering most of Nazgrim, and the Dark Shaman bosses?

Also I doubt he can answer but it's worth a shot. Will Cromush and the Kor'kron of the Undercity be mentioned at all?

"What is the name of the Zangarmarsh mushroom trees?"

It's one of the most interesting flora in the Warcraft universe, and yet I've only seen it be called by the rather generic "giant mushroom".

+1.

Yes, try to reinforce the impression that the whole High King thing is unpopular, if possible.

The High King stuff won't go anywhere.

Micky Neilson stated that both Thrall and Varian will be main characters for a while.

-In 5.2, there was a ton of build up for the Throne of Thunder outside of the raid itself, whereas there isn't really any build up to the Siege of Orgrimmar in the other main features of 5.4. Why was this direction taken?

-Why are every race but the draenei and worgen participating in the siege?

-There's been some confusion on Twitter in regards to what happens after the Siege, particularly if the Alliance receives any reparations for all the damage the faction war brought to them. Will they, either in game or in the lore?

-What became of the Kor'kron in the Undercity? Were they killed, pulled back to defend Orgrimmar, or did Sylvannas "convince" them to side with her?
