Default No Blizzcon this year?

It really is the end of the world!

Not quite sure how I feel. I mean, sure, I don't play WoW anymore, but I always did look forward to Blizzcon.

if they don't have a new product to announce and hype up why even bother holding a convention?

I think they noticed 2010 and how that was with no huge announcements and i guess they do not have any this year... Its quite shocking though since i thought we would see Diablo 3 expansion teaser (back when i thought it was coming out in 2011) and Starcraft 2 Heart of the Swarm.

Good.

Focus on making quality games.

Finish out Diablo 3, put out HotS, and release Pandaria.

And then get to working on TITAN baby.

I want some space-shit now.

This exactly. MoP will be recently out for the convention, and they won't have material to show from the following expansions. Pretty much the same for the other franchises.

I wish they could have managed to announce something no matter what, but it seems they don't like celebrating it with nothing to announce .

PS: Where's your sig from, Hidden? o_o

I have been thinking a June target release for a while now. Late June, right after the kids end their school semester.

no Metzen hugs for Oma this year.

I just hope this means they'll send some people to New York Comic Con and they may have a blizzcon in early 2013.

MoP will easily be out within the Summer... Considering they are not making a new raid content patch after this one and just a Event patch (Theramore getting destroyed). We will probably see the MoP beta just after Diablo 3's release if its in Feb.

Plus do not forget there are 2 more expansions after MoP, another Stacraft expansion after Heart of the Swarm and then the theorized 2 Diablo 3 expansions.

Good. The 2010 Blizzcon shouldn't have happened. Metzen doesn't wanna do another lame slideshow, and I don't blame him.

People like to complain about how we didn't really get anything new at the 2010 one

2010 was a great blizzcon to attend and probably the most fun I had at one, but as a fan waiting for news or, heavens to murgatroid, someone who paid for a stream, it was pretty dull simply because we didn't learn about anything new. I had a blast and the relative lack of activity allowed me to meat a lot of fellow friends and even get some real time to talk to the debs, but for the people who just watched coverage of it I can see why they disliked it.

Blizzcon takes a ton of work and a ton of money. With the possability of three games this year, blizz can focus everything on these and not have to worry about a major 2 day convention to spend months preparing for.

I do wonder if this means they'll be going to any other conventions though.

They learned from the 2010 Blizzcon that it's a waste of time with no major announcements. Although you'd think the first D3 expansion would be ready to announce by then but maybe they don't want to do an entire convention just for that announcement. But with D3 coming out next monthish, MoP out by the summer and HoS possibly out by late this year or early next year there really isn't much to announce considering Titan still has at least another year to go.

I enjoyed watching it for the sole reason of laughing at the people that paid 150 dollars for nothing.

This.

They should have given D3 more coverage, but instead, they said nothing new at all, which made it utter bullshit, and probably the most boring BlizzCon ever.

However, I'm sure they could manage to add interesting activities to it. The problem is they use it to announce stuff, not to have fun. If they have nothing to announce, then secondary stuff like fun won't replace marketing.

Well the problem is it's fun for the people who attend but not fun for the people who just watch it for announcements.

It's main objective is advertising and promotion. If they can't advertise anything, then it's pointless.

They could always make a "super lore panel" of 4 hours and then sit together to theorycraft (would make it the best BlizzCon ever) but not gonna happen because it has 0 marketing.
