If I was Bioware or Valve I'd strike back by announcing a Mass Effect DLC or a Half-Life 3 demo starring a race of squirrels who practice martial arts, or an "updated" version of Half-Life 1 that's inferior to the original.

Not necessarily. Consider that the Oregon trail was a historical game. The journey from Lordaeron to Westfall could be the original one taken by the lords of Strom (which stretched over most of the continent of Lordaeron) to the at the time untamed frontier of what would later be Stormwind and Westfall.

There was another hidden April's fool at 1 a.m. in Germany - at least I think so - suddenly Deathwing called to me inside of the Undercity saying "Madness will engulf you" and shortly afterwards the Mistress of Hate said "I hate incompetent raiders". I almost jumped at that. Funny it was English although I am playing on EU-Alexstrasza with the German game version. . .
