I'd say it comes from magic itself always being referred to as "secret", I think it fits finely as it would inherently be a secret to most. Fel magic, being very taboo, is also likely more secret than more acceptable Arcane practices.

also worthy of note:

At Blizzcon when they showed the new talent preview for Warlocks, there was a talent for Warlocks

http://www.blizzplanet.com/wp-conten...m-panel-91.jpg

named Illidan's Guile. This has been replaced by a Mannoroth themed talent. There is a reason Blizzard changed this, but what is this reason?

More like the antithesis of that. Like your going through a zone helping people reclaim keepsakes they were tricked out of, boards slaughtered, animal race villages unjustly raided with their ears harvested, trails of dead animals. The list goes on, it would be a great play on the horrible acts the players commit on a regular basis with the end of the quest being a group of renegade demons who formed a 5 player party. Less direct comedy until the last horrible realization at the end.

Personally I loved the NPC for a day quests.

Ooh, taking down a 5 player party! Having them talk to each other during the fight. The Demon Shaman asks if he should use bloodlust now, and they all shout yes.

Hmm i'm seeing the demoniacs and yeah their're cool pulling a "Meryl Felstorm"

Warlocks tread dangerous ground in dealing with demons, but our demoniacs take this one step further. Through an ancient and arcane ritual, they allow a demon to enter their being. Rather than let it possess them though, they enslave the demon from the inside, absorbing the power of the beast for their own command. It is a feat few are ever able to master.

There's a group of three Sauroks in MoP, who are probably Arena of Annihilation bosses. They're imaginatively called "Tankiss", "Healiss" and "Hackiss". When you attack Healiss, he yells at Tankiss to taunt "that thing" off him. Tankiss complains about Healiss being rubbish upon defeat. I don't remember anything from Hackiss, but I think he complains about his gear when defeated.

I don't know. Personally, I believe that the class modularity we have in the system we have at the moment is ultimately the best, and racial subclasses are unnecessary. The demon hunter problem could just be solved by letting night elves be warlocks.

I thought most random Heroes were non-canon, too, but we've seen them pop up a couple times. Dalar Dawnweaver was an Archmage in WC3, in WoW he's the Forsaken mage in Sepulcher. The Demon Hunter in Felwood is named Sindweller, who was a random DH in WC3. Ras Frostwhisper in Scholomance was also a random generated WC3 name.
Probably missing a couple more.

Here's the spell in the WoE dungeon, BTW:
http://www.wowhead.com/spell=105009
It turns the entire party into Metamorphosis-style demons, and Illidan is the one who casts it. I think that and the guy in Darkshore using Meta when you fight him is enough to say it's a canon ability to Demon Hunters.

Crossed Swords (War2)

Kelv Sternhammer, one of the random Mountain Kings is a Dwarf Warrior trainer in Ironforge.

Grim Thunderbrew does not appear in the game, but his family sure is.

I think that a Mountain King/duel wield tank spec for Warriors could happen.

Oh so Rossi will link to my forum but he's too good to respond to my emails.

Well screw you, Rossi. I've got Anne and we're BFFs and we're building a treehouse and you're not allowed in.

It would be a small step from the giant leap made in incorporating Highborne in Cataclysm.

If Blizzard does implement Night Elf Warlocks and make Demon Hunters fully baked into/replace Demo spec, here is a great mount for a Night Elf Warlock/Demon Hunter. I bought it this week

any insight from you into what's going on with Warlocks and Illidan/Demon Hunters overlapping so much more lately? In particular, the Illidan themed armor set raises some alarms in my brain.

Nothing I know of, I haven't been looking into that part of the lore recently.

I can tell you it feels me with a good sense of spiteful schadenfreude since I've always hated people who clamor for demon hunters, but that's just me.

Illidan! At last!
We see each other plain.
"Demon Hunter",
you'll soon return to chains.

Before you say another word, Maiev,
Before you chain me up like a slave again
Listen to me! There is something I must do!
The Lich King is calling forth his prince
There is none but me who can intercede
In mercy's name, I must destroy the Throne
To Kil'jaeden, I pledged my word
Destroy the Throne

You must think me mad!
I've guarded you across the years
Elves like you can never change
Night Elves such as you.

Believe of me what you will Elves like you can never change

There is a duty that I'm sworn to do Elves like you can never change

You know nothing of my life No, Night Elf Traitor.

All I did was give us magic My duty's to Elune - you have no rights!

You know nothing of the world Come with me Night Elf Traitor

You would sooner see me dead Now the wheel must spin once more

But not before the Lich King dies himself Your brother's amnesty binds me not

I am warning you Maiev Dare you talk to me of threats

I'm a stronger Elf by far And villains who must be slain?

There is power in me yet Every magic has its price

My hunt is not yet done Every act has left its stain

I am warning you Maiev! You know nothing of Maiev!

There is nothing I won't dare! I am sister to Elune!

If I have to kill you here! I won't let you ruin us all!

I'll do what must be done! I will do what I must do!

. . .

This was necessary.

I think it's time to just set down the grimoire and accept that playable Demon Hunters just aren't going to happen. For all the same reasons we won't see playable Blademaster or Archmage heroes.

They make for good plot devices (I can see the demons!) but functionally they're just warlocks with swords. Or rogues with metamorphosis. Moreover there isn't enough to make three distinct specs out of them, and the second they equip a weapon that isn't a warglaive and/or blindfold they won't really look like demon hunters anymore.

People who don't understand Les Miserables at all need to stop making bad comparisons to the work.

Seriously?

I mean, a terrible parody is a terrible parody--I'm not going to deny that I create a lot of garbage. But are you really going to bet on the odds that I went through high school and college without studying Les Misérables, testing on it, and writing essays on its themes and characterizations just as most other students did as they passed through the educational system, or that I did all that without understanding the work "at all"? Is that what you're going to bet on? Or are you just saying insulting words at random?

Yeah, it was a stupid joke. But let's move on, unless you want to make a thread in the General Forums to quiz me on this or other literature and thus put your theory to the test.

On topic, I like Mana Burn.
