Didn't stop them from gaining death coil. There was also no reason for them to have a unique class-mount to begin with.

Arthas never died, to my knowledge. And he had normal eyes all throughout Warcraft 3 and The Frozen Throne.

I said he laughs on us from on high. I think that is elevating him to a more proper status than mere human

Certainly glaives as the only weapon would be rough, agreed. Though in some cases it would be the inverse of DKs and their runeforging. Have them use AGIL weapons (shared with Rogue and Shaman) and instead of enchanting them, they break down the weapons and forge a glaive (which would have its own tier graphics etc). i am starting to warm to this idea.

Blindfolds really dont matter, just have them appended as standard on all Demon Hunter characters, like a DK's blue eyes.
Rogues are a pretty flexible archetype. They can be scoundrels, thieves, shadow warriors, swashbucklers, con men, bandits, assassins. Demons Hunters are only one thing: a hunter of demons. More specifically, the image of a demon hunter is an elf melee fighter with a blindfold that uses warglaives and fel magic. That's the image, the identity, burned into our recognition.

Sure, you could dream up three specs for demon hunters. But then it wouldn't be a demon hunter. It'd be something new, something demon hunter-esque, but not the real thing. As for permanent glaives and blindfolds, yes the system could provide that. But such a thing would be way more complicated to code that any of us probably realize, and it flies in the face of a lot of hard Blizzard philosophies for the game (namely, having static gear models).

Well everything they would need to do glaives, blindfolds, and tatoos (if needed or wanted) are already in game.

While I agree rogues as a class can draw from many different inspirations, however with regards to actual game mechanics are the three different rogue specs (especially in MoP) all that different?

Here is a sample of DH specs.

Almost wholly melee based spec (like Fury Warrior or Combat Rogue)
Some what more "magical" spec (like Enhancement Shaman)
A tank Spec (Blood DK that can dual wield tank?)

Not really hard to imagine.

With regards to races, hey everyone can be a monk if I am not mistaken.

Burning Legion attacks, Illidan shows back up, recruits anyone and everyone to be ready to push back the Legion. The army of darkness to counter Velen's army of light. Sorta like the DKs and Argents in WotLK.

Can we get like a "swear jar" going for this forum? Whenever someone talks about a DH spec or class, he has to donate 5 bucks.
In less than a year, we'd have the classiest lore forum around. Hookers and all that.

Night elves. They're nuts for glaives. They like them with two blades. Three blades. Four blades. They carry them around. They strap them to their hippogryfs. They mount them on their walls. They throw them at people. They paint them on their banners. They get all peevish if you stuff them full of fel energy. They mount them to siege weapons and shoot them at people with limited effectiveness. They're ape shit for glaives.

If I ever find myself transported to Azeroth I'd bring with me a DVD of Krull. They'd make me their king.

I always remembered an idea for heroes from a faked expansion rumor that I really liked, where regular classes and certain race combinations would branch out into the Hero classes. Dwarf warriors become Mountain Kings, Orc Warriors into Blademasters, etc. It's a lot like Prestige Classes in DnD.

NE Rogues and Warriors could become Demon Hunters, and you gain extra powers from the new hero class on top of your regular abilities. A Rogue Demon Hunter would play slightly different from a Warrior Demon Hunter, but both would have the exclusive ability to use Warglaives and shared abilities like Immolation and Demon Form.
