Apparently
The dungeons mentioned are Scholomance and Stratholme, with a cliffhanger of "(and more)". What do you guys think this will entail? |

I could easily see some Scourge remenants or some remains of the Cult of the Damned still doing stuff in the Plaguelands.
I am glad Blizzard won't just ignore old dungeons and say "Just pretend that nobody lives in there.". It will be interesting to see if the Walling Caverns will get removed as an instance or another threat will emerge. |

In fact, it might be an incredible twist if we actually work with the new Scourge under Bolvar to eradicate the Cult and other old Scourge-aligned baddies that he didn’t gain control over.

Yeah, that was exactly what I was thinking. They can still be active without the Lich King being active.
But Bolvar is supposed to be a secret so if we work for him, than it would probably be from very "high ranked" NPCs and nothing too obvious. I really like the idea of Bolvar helping us though. like the Clone army in Star Wars. Than in WoW 2 or Wc4 Ner'zhul would become dominant and they would turn against us. ![]() |

What I'd like to see is basically the continuation of the story in ANY troll dungeon along the spirit of the Echo Isles revamp. Yeah, I know some people are sick and tired of ALL those troll instances, but I personally think they have the coolest atmosphere.

Same. I still love Zul'gurub above everything else.

My guess is that they are just going to rebalance them - no significant changes, but maybe changes to things like mob distribution (i.e. fewer trash-fests) and drop quality (in particular, compare Strath and Scholo to say, Ramparts.. they are similar-level dungeons but Ramparts blows them away in terms of loot)

They will probably edit some of the mobs and whatnot. For example going into the Wailing Caverns and killing the Druids of the Fang again when the area outside is cleansed due to the efforts of Naralex AFTER they were killed would be odd. Stratholme could be edited to be a rogue group of the Cult of the Damned instead of the Scourge for example.

They could view the Lich King as a martyr for their cause; follow what they think he would have done

The general populace does not know that.

1- As Leviathon said, most don't know that
2- The new Lich King also has a completely different stance on everything compared to Arthas and Ner'zhul, the ideals of whom the Cult is based upon. Bolvar has no desire to convert everything to undeath at this time |

The followers looked forward to "rewards" which only the Lich King, and maybe officers of the Scourge could give them. So if they think the Lich King is dead that means no rewards. So for them to still be like they were before there is going to have to be at least one powerful Scourge member who they look up to. But all the Scourge are controlled by the Lich King correct? Unless that Scourge member(s) is able to go solo.

It may be that the death of Arthas caused a split similar to the one that occurred during Ner'zhul's weakened state. I could see Kel'thuzad or other Scourge lieutenants taking over during that time and secluding themselves in former Scourge strongholds. Hell there are probably individuals in the Cult of the Damned or general mage community that were waiting for a chance to jump ahead in the ranks/take a shot at necromancy and this counts as one of the best ones.

They worshipped him as a God, who's to say they weren't told that he'd "ascended" to his god hood and they needed to continue doing his bidding in order to reach their heaven of undeath? The whole point of the Cult of the Damned is that it is a cult, its practitioners believe shit that makes no sense either because they're idiots or because they see it as a powerful organization they could take control of (i.e. Baron Rivendare).

What else, really, are the Cultists of the Damned going to do? These are people who have Seen (and Done) Some Shit, so to speak, and even the less diehard members are probably traumatized and obsessed with the smell of decaying flesh. They can't exactly just take off their robes and go home (especially since the homes of theirs that they didn't destroy are now Forsaken territory, which isn't going to be a receptive area for former willing servants of the Scourge). Most would probably keep doing what they know- raising corpses and killing people- even if they realize that it's for nothing now. Some might just off themselves. It might be interesting to see a haggard few show up at Light's Hope or the Cathedral of Light, begging the Light or the Church for forgiveness for their sins (although I doubt that the clergy or the Argent Dawn would let them get away with just saying a few "Hail Uthers").

Isn't it strange how this is exactly what Kel'Thuzad was trying to do before the whole Cult thing, i.e. create an army of helpful undead?
