Slightly randomized, expensive (if you get it all) DLC for ME3, apparently.

As the update to the article says, the DLC:

Quote:
"is slightly randomized during the registration and could include powerful new weapons and new characters."
So I guess some previous-game characters will be playable if you go this route or...something.

Moneysinks *sigh*

edit: Some other new info:

Quote:
For instance, space travel will now include territorial consequences, such as passing into Reaper territory will see them tracking down the Normandy and players must engage in a mini-game of sorts to thwart their pursuers.

If that was an mmo there would no be a PR shitstorm about buying powerful weapons with real money. Why not here?

I guess because its not an MMO. I dunno, I can't speak for others, but I'm not happy myself, either.

Though I'll admit looking at the figures, I wouldn't mind buying a few (Garrus and Legion look good). Others are also pointing out that the DLC (whatever it is) may eventually become available to players who don't buy it.

...maybe.

"downloadable content pack for Mass Effect 3 multi-player."

The Multiplayer is that "Galaxy at War" thing, where you get to play as an Asari/N7/Krogan/whatever, and team up with other people to fight the reapers, and it 'could' affect your single player story.

So, essentially, it won't matter for the campaign story, but is a bonus if you plan on playing the multiplayer.

full quote from the online store:

Quote:
This product contains a code that can be redeemed for a downloadable content pack for Mass Effect 3 multi-player. It is slightly randomized during the registration and could include powerful new weapons and new characters. The pack could also include character boosters, weapon modifications, and weapon upgrades to make your multi-player squad stronger.

I shat a brick at first too, i wasn't going to pay 300$ to get the full Single Player experience.

Then i checked the bioware store out, andddd, i was like "ITS JUST LIKE BIOSHOCK, WHY DO I GIVE A FUCK ABOUT THE MULTIPLAYER?"

I never buy DLC for new weapons, but if those figures come with characters... maaaybe. I know it's only for multiplayer but if there's a race/class combination I really, really want, I may cave.

I'd rather just buy the DLC without the figures, though.

I read that as.

'Random DLC that I'll go to piratebay to download while loling at Biowares attempt at a cashgrab.' Unless it's multiplayer DLC only which I don't care about.

Yeah, like, maybe I'd do it if it allowed me to make a Hanar.

So wait, does that mean this particular set of DLC is exclusive to the figurines, or is it DLC that you're able to download normally via Xbox Live/Origin etc. and that it's just attached as a bonus to the figures?

If its the latter it's not so bad. If its the confer DAMNIT BIOWARE Y U NO GOOD PEOPLE?!

EDI wanted a way where she could make out with Joker. Prothean's look badass also.

I like the protheans, though they look absolutely nothing like the statues on Ilos from ME1. EDI, on the other hand, seems to really clash with the series' established robotic designs and seems like a shallow romance interest attempt. Also, robo-hair? Do not want.

The statues on Ilos may have simply been art rather than a perfect representation of the Prothean form. As for EDI, according to that text she looks so humanoid because her "body" is meant for infiltration and would normally be covered in skin and hair to make her look human.

Eh, those statues looked very, very different from protheans. Like bearded/tentacled humans. Most strikingly, those statues had 2 eyes and a round head.

As for EDI, eh, I just don't like it. There aren't any examples, AFAIK, of "infiltration robots" and all robots seen in the setting never seemed to go quite as far into the uncanny valley as EDI. If EDI needed a body, why couldnt sue just be a ball of light like the drones?

Both EDI having a body and us encountering Protheans seem unnecessary and a little stupid to me

Was Omacron joking? I thought if Shepard died in ME2, story is over, you have to use a blank character or start over in ME2 to have another save.

And, i read earlier that if you have Grunt alive still, you can't use the Rachni Queen you saved in ME1? If so, that's lameeeeee.

Figure Reapers invading would mean we'd have a higher priority list then "OH GOD RACHNI, CANT WORK WITH YOU SHEPARD".

That was my exact first thought as well.

He does, however, look a LOT like a Collector, which makes a lot of sense.

Personally I like the new design better anyway. The Ilos statues looked too humanoid, and those wires/tentacles/whatever coming out of them looked unsettling.

It looks really cool, but personally I think it's more conflicting with the idea that the Alliance would be cool putting an unshackled AI in a humanoid body. You know, with the AI limitations and stigma against the Geth and all.

Yeah, I like how there is some similarity, even if it flies in teh face of those statues from before.

Rather like the samurai-like armor.

Good lord that asari husk...
