The Forsaken in the Western Plaguelands - Speculation

It appears that through quests the Forsaken gain control of ALL of Andorhal. Not only that, but they explode plague barrels among some of the regained human farms. Not only that, but Sylvanas' respect for the Horde seems to have evaporated.

She sends Koltira to be brainwashed because he made a deal with Thassarian to regroup their troops before fighting. Then in the second photo...she mentions loyalty must be with "the Horde, or more specifically the Forsaken...".

It is readily apparent to me that the Forsaken are following a bad path. Who knows what will happen to them? Speculation?

My take:

I don't understand how organizations like the Cenarion Circle and The Argent Crusade will allow the Forsaken to undo all the work they did in the Western Plaguelands. When doing quests there, it is apparent that the Cenarion Circle played a large role in this recovery. I doubt they would support the Forsaken plaguing it up with plague barrels and plague bombs. Not only that, but the Alliance must be pissed at losing all the progress they made in redeeming Andorhal. I just have a feeling that they should all group together...the other Horde races, the neutral organizations and the Alliance to eliminate the Forsaken before they evolve into a greater threat. I doubt this will happen due to game mechanics however, but who knows.

The Alliance probably have quests along a similar vein, I would think.

They do, but they are unfinished currently. Of course I'm sure they lead to the same end: Andorhal is in the Forsaken's control.

Most of the Alliance quests have to do with eliminating remaining Scourge, killing foxes..freeing spirits. Nothing vile.

Need we more reason to pistol whip Syl?

Leviathon 07-15-2010 07:05 PM

Yea questlines in Cataclysm always have the same end regardless of faction which is partly what helps the story telling quite a bit.

While we already had a thread about this topic here, nice of you to show actual proof of it, thanks! but perhaps we can continue talking about it in that thread, to avoid having to say everything twice. There's more info about the pact between the DK's there

Aw, your questbox is over the dialogue of Sylvanas talking to Koltira.

Wow, Sylvanas is rapidly becoming no better than the Lich King...resurrecting the farmers and then "charming" them...

Omacron 07-15-2010 10:57 PM

Wait, WHY is Koltira working FOR the horde? He's part of the Ebon Blade, who the Horde requested the help of, not the other way around. He's not a citizen of the horde at all, and what the Horde is doing is basically kidnapping a citizen of a neutral nation.

They are no longer in the Ebon Blade.

Looks like joining the Alliance and Horde armies in Northrend on their own instead of marching up there to fight the Scourge with Mograine's troops basically made them members of the Alliance and Horde by default.

Plus, the Death Knight manga makes it look like lore-wise Thassarian approached Varian as the representative of those death knights seeking to rejoin the Alliance. Seems like he and Koltira are supposed to basically be the story-driven avatars of the player death knights, who are very much subject to the conditions and presumed loyalties of their respective playable factions and not considered neutral parties outside the authority of the Horde and Alliance leadership just because they originally came from the Ebon Blade.

Twofootfury 07-15-2010 11:23 PM

Thassarian has said before that he will always be devoted to the Alliance, regardless of his Death Knight-ism or affiliation with the Ebon Blade.

Koltira on the other hand has made no such remarks regarding the Horde.

My only issue here is how Kerrigan she is becoming. Still very interested how this will effect Garrosh and the Alliance. Maybe they want the Horde to suffer, so Garrosh has to make some decisions.

At the end of the day, i do question whenever or not Stormrage book will be taken canon as to Varian being aware he *needs* to ally with the Horde.

Yeah, i'd say they're totally suffering. Yes, I know what you meant when you said that.

Really though, the only reason she is doing these things is because Varian called her a witch, so she decided to act witch. This is why you should never call someone a bad name regardless of the situation, it gets all kinds of messy.

He allied with the Horde there, because all of Azeroth was about 5 minutes from eating a giant shit ball. Plus, because he knew his son was in danger being caught in the nightmare. Things in Cata are bad, but not quite on that level.

Quite possibly the funniest thing I've read today.

"GUYS IT ISN'T SYLVANAS' FAULT SHE'S AN EVIL BITCH, IT'S VARIAN'S"

So you're saying Gurtogg is Varian? Holy fuck!

Which Gurtogg? Be specific here.

The insane, bloodthristy one, or the one located in the Black temple?

Afaslizo 07-16-2010 12:16 AM

Enthralled Valkyrs - so Sylvanas' version that they joined her because of the lich king's death is very euphemistic. . .

They're one and the same.

PS. So does anyone know do these new Forsaken troops have any free will? It seems to me they are all perfectly enslaved. I guess it's too early in Beta to find out, what some Forsaken or Blood elves think about this.
