Trenchers got buffed.

On the lore front, the storyline will jump forward two years. Cygnar has a new king and their position as the 'lawful good' faction will become even more murky, with their new leadership apparently having more shades of grey. Interestingly enough, Magnus is working with Stryker to take back Llael from the Khadorans.

Khador's apparently been taking names, but it has drained its coffers and they've been required to dial back on the military as a result. The Empress marries for sake of an heir, though we don't know who yet.

Not many Hordes spoilers yet.

My bet is that the Empress will marry Vlad as a mean to cement her own power over Umbrey, hence leading to tensions with Sorscha, Vlad and possibly Irusk. That or someone from the royal family in Ord to help clean the finances of the Empire while assuring Ord of its protection/neutrality for now. Hell, she could even try to play the long game and try to annex Ord by inheritance for her children.

So this is pretty cool, especially with the recent bundle.

I like the Thornfall alliance and Blindwater congregation, 'mob' races that are getting themselves together.

I'm not too fond of the Gatormen, but I like the Farrows. In Hordes, still, the army I intend to collect will be (and in fact is, since I bought the old battlebox months ago) the Legion. But first thing first : Khador fuck the world.

Damn, the Iosans and Nyss are -fucked-.

Also, am I reading this right? Skorne souls can't/don't go to Urcaen for no discernible reason?

The elves in this setting are more doomed than most elves in most settings.

Originally they had 8 gods and they were doing awesome.

They built a magic bridge to let their gods visit anytime (Well half, the gods built the other half).

It broke after the gods crossed, exploding and taking their first empire with it. The gods did the best they could to sheperd the elves afterwards but eventually noticed the elves were dying off and figured the cause of the problem must be that the elf gods weren't in elf heaven to take care of it, and so left.

That didn't seem to fix anything, years later all the priests of the elf gods except two went nuts and lost most of their powers and a few millenia later two gods show up again, one comatose, the other froze itself to keep itself alive.

Some elves are straight up born soulless because their cycle of reincarnation is all screwed up.

And so now one branch of elves is like "Hey, right after our priests went nuts the humans got magic, I bet if we murder all the human spellcasters our gods will get better!" And frankly while they have no evidence they might not be wrong, Thamar (human goddess that gave humans magic) might have done something SUPER shady to give them magic, literally no one knows.

Oh, and the one other group of elves has had half its population enslaved by a dragon that's making an army out of them that's 1 part zerg, 1 part scourge, and 1 part Diablo.

There's a small group of elves looking for literally any way to fix their gods and more willing to work with other races but they are having zero luck and so the extremist "Murder all human casters" group is getting more ground.

Seems they have released a new race, called the Grymkin.

They look awesome.

Seems they are some kind of "army of nightmares", but not the tentacle-y creepy stuff. Just toys, gremlins, puppets, and "fairy tale" stuff.

I'm on a crush with 80-90's stuff lately, and this is a tactical nuke. All those monsters from that age's movies, that had their own thing going, are represented very well with this new faction. It's specially similar to the monsters of the movie Labyrinth, which I love, but never kinda figured how they could be put into a new setting. It has some Halloween and Tim Burton touches, too.

Really gladly surprised with them. Bless wargames for all their innovations on fantasy.

I like the Heretic especially, though the pig guys are odd given the Farrow exist.

I don't like Grymkin. They look too much like Malifaux models which look great unto themselves but just... don't mesh with the Warmahordes aesthetic. There's not much of a unifying theme to them beyond "dude quirky pulp horrors lmao" in the same way the Cryx have.

Damn, wish the werewolves were part of that group rather than the dumb Druid group.

Don't suppose there's any factions with a "dark is not evil" theme?

I dunno if I'd call the circle dumb, they're extreme and crazy to be sure but given there's apparently a very real threat of the world ending if the ouroboros actually gets loose I can see where they're coming from.

They oughta talk it out with folks tho

That's pretty much Orboros though. Sure, they've got a bunch of remorseless savage half/full werewolves (Tharn and Warpwolves/Purebloods) on their side and sure a lot of 'em are dicks, but their goals are at their very core for the greater good of Caen (stopping the Wurm/Menoth from eating the world).

Sounds a lot cooler when you put it like that.

Plus they have a lot of units that looks badass.
