It's been awhile but I'll check what I used to run with and get back to you.

The game IS very playable without Mods, just for the record, but there's certainly a few Mods that are well worth your time.

Apart from maybe some graphics enhancing mods, I'd say play through the game and its DLCs on vanilla version before getting into gameplay-changing mods.

New Vegas is a fantastic game all on its own.

Edit:

These texture packs and weather effect mods are pretty dope visual enchancements I used back when I played NV. I can only imagine they've been improved upon since then.

I've actually never any of the Fallout games with any mods.

Far as I'm concerned, the New Vegas experience stands on its own.

The only mods I used for NV were those that added new radio stations. The music the game comes with is great, but I wanted to add some variety. I found one mod that played patriotic Chinese Communist music from the '50s and '60s.

I recommend Project Nevada, NMC's texture pack, and EVE.

But yeah, you owe it to yourself to have at least one full playthrough with no Mods, just so you get the full experience.

After that, Mod away to your hearts content.

I downloaded some visual mods. I was wondering about patches and such also. I got the 4GB ram patch. I also had to do some tinkering to get it to run because it kept crashing when I would start it.
